Synopsis:

The TV-cut of the 2010 six-part movie series by studios Production I.G and Xebec.

Magic in Cruzon allows for the manipulation of quartz crystals, enabling various machine technology including mechas ("golems") and air-pressure rifles. Rygart Arrow is a young man with no affinity for magic, but when an ancient golem is unearthed that doesn't respond to magic he's asked by the king of Krisna to help in its research.

Rygart attended the military academy with King Hodr and Queen Sigyn and is happy to answer their cryptic summons, but soon Krisna is drawn into a war with their expansionist neighbor, the Commonwealth of Athens. And the invasionary force is lead by none other than Zess, another old friend from their military academy days.

Thoughts:

I expect this'll be old hat to a lot of folks since it's just a rehashing of the existing series with a few new scenes, but having not seen the original I'll be watching it anyway. The animation is really good and overall it's got a sort of FMA vibe. I couldn't find a discussion topic, if there's one floating around though this one can be closed. Thanks!

Ill be checking out the new 12 episode series for sure although i just finished The 6 part Broken Blade and it was probably one of the most beautiful anime I have ever seen. I heard the new one took out the original OP thought and that makes me sad because it was amazing!

I think they are re-doing the series in hopes of continuing it or hopefully they are.

great series. definitely recommend watching either the TV or movies, even if you're not a big fan of mecha.

I just wish they would've kept the OP that they had for the movies... the TV's OP is underwhelming in comparison.

Very much so.. The movies OP is one of the best out of any anime haha! I heard the TV series is gonna have some extra stuff in it. Any truth to this? If not id recommend just watching the movies, because i heard they aren't changing anything.

OH, well I haven't been able to find the thread for it...but might as well share some thoughts on Episode 1 and 2

So far enjoying it, not too sure if I would call the animation really good, the mechas yes those are great, about the actual terrains and human beings are a bit lackluster at some points, i.e towards the end of episode 2 with the queen on her bed waking up (Most of you can probably guess why that scene stood out to me the most haha).

Aside from the animation I still find this really good for the current story it has, nothing feels forced, especially coming from a mecha genre, maybe the sudden ability to pilot the old school bot, but I think we can let that slide since he probably trained with similar like mechas back in military schools.

The MC is on good terms with me so far, as well as the queen, I do feel a little sad knowing she more than likely has feelings for him from the past, but I will see where this goes, hopefully it is addressed and not swept under the rug.
As you can tell I haven't seen the previous movies, so if anyone who has seen them, as anything been cut from the first two episodes so far? So that maybe I should check out the movies as well.

There are some extra scenes, thus far about one to two per episode. If we're lucky it might diverge and become more manga accurate towards the end.

yea, the TV series is supposed to have new scenes. not sure exactly how much of it will be new, though.

this would be amazing. especially if they go into a 2nd season and continue the story. though with a monthly release schedule for the manga, who knows how long that could take.

Alright, will do just that, I should assume each movie will be roughly two episodes, so movie two will have episode 3 and 4 possibly?........ Also that's how you make color text huh, you have just unleashed a beast that shouldn't have been released xD
