Caring, Why Do We Do It?

I'm here to ask you a question. First, let me throw in this little piece to set the mood. This made me think a bit, so now I wonder what you're thoughts are. Warning? Probably will make you distrusting and sad.

~~~~~~~~~
I have come to a realization that makes me ask myself one question. Why do I lie? Here I am, doing this little song and dance, pretending to care about other people. For what reason? Simple. Because I am paid to care. I'm obligated to care. Because we're friends. Because we're family. Because they did something for me. Because they gave me something. So are they.
It's not like we genuinely care for anyone other than ourselves. We just pretend to since we want something from them, or because society says we have to. It's not like family members actually love each other, or friends really like each other. We either just want something from them or we have to pretend because society says so.
Why should I care? Why even pretend? Acting is so mind numbingly tedious, especially when we have to do it constantly. The only time we can safely stop is either when we're alone or we're dead.
So I suppose I have to continue this little routine. Sing a little song, do a little jig, because, hey, life is hard. Let's all just wear our comedy masks and forget that we should all be wearing the tragedy ones.
~~~~~~~~~~

So, what's your reason? Do you actually care? Or do you merely pretend out of want or obligation?

Yes, I care. I'm not sure why I care but I do.

I care. I care because its the second greatest feeling I have for people. I care because I get to see more in people and discover new things. I care because it gives me hope that i can trust at least three or more people

It's really not worth it if you ask me.

Certainly many others do care about others. Everybody cares about themselves, too. At least at some times in their life. Anybody who has truly overcome the ego and has a real selfless love for others had to work and work to get to that point, and they believed that getting to that point was a very 'true' thing to achieve.

But you don't have to be some renowned Buddhist monk or incredibly good saint to be pretty caring of others. OP, if you are saying you basically don't care about others, or maybe you are even saying that you don't -truly- care about any others, well...I guess that is how you are. You just so happen to not truly care about any others. That is how you are personally and some people can be like that. If that is the case about you...do you want things to remain like that? If the thought of being like that bothers you, and you really do hope there are things to do to change it...I really think you can change things, and in a very positive way, but I don't know what it'd take for you. It might take much time, effort, reflection, contemplation...learning from challenges and failures...it very well could also be made possible through things like philosophies, ideologies, maybe even spirituality, although I don't know how that would apply to you, as maybe you have inclinations towards spirituality, or perhaps it is just something that doesn't really speak to you or something you just don't connect with. That is why I mentioned things like 'philosophies' and 'ideologies'. Maybe they could be secular based, or maybe it could be things from, say, Buddhism or Daoism, all the while you maintain your status as an agnostic or an atheist or whatever you may be.

I act caring when I really do care I suppose. But I also act caring when I'm around low self esteem bitches. Sometimes you pretend to care so they won't bite back

My thoughts about caring.
Posted 4/18/14
As much as I love to try and pretend that I don't care, the truth is I do care. I can't help it. I just genuinely care about people who are close to me or people I respect/look up to. Even when I turn away and cut people off, I still care. I just stop myself from expressing it..

I actually care. Anyone experienced in the subject, however, will tell you that that's not the problem. People put up Machiavellian obstacles to you caring about them, until you only care at first until you start to smell bullshit. Then you have to realize it's out of your hands and there's nothing more to be done.

I care because, I don't want others to feel hurt or lonely. I also care to show support.

Easy. A lot of people don't really care what's going on with anyone else or feel the same like you. Yet we (humans) always want to be cared for or shown compassion to. One of those great double standard.

To put it bluntly: Nobody Cares if it doesn't affect us! Nobody has, and nobody will. If it affects us, however...

Putting it cynically like that quote, my caring is tied to my interest. If I find something that peeks my interest, then it looks like I'll start to care...maybe. Any other care would probably be from not getting it in the face due to ineptitude.

Your English is very bad.

Anyone else want to state the obvious?
