This was just a really random thought that came into my head but I'm curious all the same about what others think.

If a director came up with the grand idea of trying to adapt this game, what do you think could happen?

If they had a decent enough writer and paced it really well, is this game's abstract and vague story still workable?

And if it was able to be done, should it?

Let me know what you think.

I'd be pissed; there are a lot of games in From Software's library that should get an anime treatment LONG before they think of Dark Souls (i.e. Otogi, Metal Wolf Chaos, Armored Core, etc).

Nah.
I'll tell ya why :
Main character would die,
Some moron would be standing there watching just praising the sun like a tard,
And then some darkmoon would show up and kill the sun preacher.

The end.
Honestly, as RX said, SO many games would be better in anime form.

Uhm the anime would never end

OR be like DBZ with its 50 episode long fights, except a quarter of it is the actual fight, while the rest is travelling back to where the boss is.

But what if the story was just about the journey from the Undead Asylum to the Kiln with the MC meeting all the NPCs on the way, with like an episode dealing with each of their questlines? Could that format work?

Personally I just find the whole thing an interesting puzzle as to how about how to go about it. Honestly though, I'm happier with just having the game by itself.

What's so wrong with that? Wouldn't the MC just get up again like he does in the DkS2 intro sequence?

But ignoring all the stuff the community does in-game, wouldn't the whole tone of futility and knowing the final outcome make the whole journey and tone slowly descend further and further into insanity as the MC dies over and over again, getting Hollower each time? Hell if an Anime or movie managed to pull that off successfully I'd be throwing money at it like crazy.

That could work actually. Seems a bit cliche with getting all those party members and battling monsters, but I'd definitely watch it.
Don't want to go off topic here, but I think Tomb Raider screams an anime adaption.

what if A-1 pictures, J.C. staff, Studio Deen or Hoods Entertainment will pick it up and a lot of people will be disappointed at anime adaptation.

Well I think it would be better if it were mostly solitary fights with minimal interaction with other characters. For instance the MC would randomly encounter Siegmeyer while in Anor Londo, like you do in the game, and after a short dialogue deal with the Knights blocking his path and send him on his way, with you continuing on your own path. I think that's the best way for something like that to play out.

As for the Tomb Raider adaptation, I'm not quite so sure.

Then we just pray to Madoka and Keima that ufotable is the one who picks it up. Actually now that I think about it ufotable would be a good studio to make an adaptation.

But yeah I agree, there are better games they could adapt. Hell like half of my 3DS games I would rather see adapted first.

Seconding this.

Besides, most game-to-anime adaptations are shite, with all due respect.
