High School Prom!!!
Posted 4/19/14
When you guys were in high school, did you ever had this feeling about prom but you did not like it at all?
Like did you ever go inside a party bus and enjoyed with your friends and had the craziest memories with them?

Because this is my first time attending prom and I don't know if I should feel excited about it?
What are your guys' thoughts, honestly? Do you like the idea of prom or is it a bad idea?

I've only been to my eighth grade prom. I never went to my high school prom.

I didn't go.

I don't see the point of dining and dancing with people I don't even like. I don't regret my decision at all.

I was forced to go to prom. That night, my grandmother died.

Proms are stupid and unnecessary...

I hate Prom.

It's a waste of time. You dress up, dine with people, (and if you're single like me) and stand awkwardly to the side as couples dance.

No, I'm not being spiteful. I have 3x the fun casually hanging with friends than I do paying $60 to get into a boring dance.

Go and make the most out of it. Especially if you're a senior, just go and hang out and have fun. You don't need to dance or anything.

I regret not doing enough fun things on that night. So my suggestion is to have fun and go crazy! lol

I don't think I'm going.
I'd rather spend my time elsewhere, such as exploring the city.
I'm not very excited on spending $100-500 on a dress that I will wear only once in my lifetime.

I had three high schools after moving a lot during summers. I might have liked going to the prom of high school with my friends from 9th-10th grade, but I never got to know many people in 11th or 12th grade and as an army brat plus knowing college was soon I didn't think it mattered if I made a set of new friends. Pretty sure I played Final Fantasy XI on my prom day, maybe both junior and senior years.

I got ditched by my date/crush in 9th grade prom, so stopped going to prom until the senior year as a single, and just eh talk with other single friends that I hang out with.

So i guess if you are going single, just go out and have fun with your friends. That and try to convince all your friends to nominate a random guy as Prom King. My friends did that to me, and i became prom king for that senior year and had to dance with the prom queen. Most awkward dance ever.

I was actually asked to go to prom this year--this being my senior year, it would've been my last chance.

Still, I declined her. I hardly knew her and the whole encounter was awkward. I was never planning on going anyway, so I don't feel so bad for turning her down. It's nice that she bothered to take notice of me at all, though.

It is interesting--if I were a different person, I wonder how things would've turned out.

My prom was three fold.

First was me and my buddies running around town having fun, more or less causing trouble before the dance.

Second of course was at the dance, where I was with my then current girlfriend, now ex. We left early from the dance (given the dance went to like... 2am we left at 1am.) because there was a post-prom party suppose to happen. So we were all interested.

Third I woke up at my friends house, 2 states away from not just where I lived, but also from the prom which was downtown (technically across the state line from where I live). Naked in a bed with my then girlfriend, her best friend, and a goat.

We never figured out where goat came from... my friend didn't even know. Yes. This is true.

Prom was really boring, spent about 90ish dollars (on the tickets) even so, I would go again since that was really the last chance we had to hang out as one big group. (Yes I still keep in contact with some of my friends from highschool, but you never really get the same chance to meet so many people that are in the same age group).
