High School Prom!!!

My prom was three fold.

First was me and my buddies running around town having fun, more or less causing trouble before the dance.

Second of course was at the dance, where I was with my then current girlfriend, now ex. We left early from the dance (given the dance went to like... 2am we left at 1am.) because there was a post-prom party suppose to happen. So we were all interested.

Third I woke up at my friends house, 2 states away from not just where I lived, but also from the prom which was downtown (technically across the state line from where I live). Naked in a bed with my then girlfriend, her best friend, and a goat.

We never figured out where goat came from... my friend didn't even know. Yes. This is true.

Dude, this sounds like some 21 & Over type of shit.

I went twice with my now ex girlfriend. It wasn't anything mind blowing.

Though if your school has a good after-prom committee, then I recommend attending that.

I went.

It was classy and for the first time, you will experience formal dining with your age group.

If you're single, indeed you'll be watching couples dance in the middle while you're on the side. It's a fine experience anyhow. Looking back at it 6 years later, it was a memorable event even though I was part of the group standing by the side.

You'll only get this chance once in a life time. The $100 you pay can always be earned back in the future, but your highschool prom, never again. Whether you find the experience worth it will entirely depend on what you do in the prom.

My advice is: go and blow some money on it. Trading 6 hours of anime/gaming for a one in a life time chance is worth it!

Prom was really fun in that my friends and I came away with lots of new shared jokes and ridiculous pictures. But we probably didn't need prom to have more of those things.

I went during my Senior year, and I don't regret it. I got a two-piece prom "dress" (actually a mother-of-the-bride skirt and top combo) that I can reuse for years to come (i.e., I wore my prom top, a pair of nice jeans, and riding boots for a wedding last year). My prom was pretty casual, and alot of people danced with their friends (myself included). I spent most of my time happily taking pictures, though. My prom was the most exciting thing that I did during my teenage years, since I'm reclusive. It was the only time that I've actually felt like a teenager. The prom was very close to my birthday, so it served as my present, too. More importantly, my family was preparing to move, and I figured that the prom will most likely be one of the last times that I'll see my friends in person. Thus far, I'm correct. My prom essentially served as a "goodbye" to everyone.

I officially went with a casual friend of mine, who didn't have anyone else to go with. I had fun picking out what I wanted for the garland and the flower to pin on his tux:

I don't think prom is useless or pointless, I just hate how everyone gets so surprised that you didn't go to prom 10 years ago. I'm 3 years away from my senior prom, but I don't intend on going. Too much of a hassle. $200-$500 on a dress; No. Thank. You.

THIS

I could see any of my friends any time I wanted.

And then the organizer asked me if I wanted to go to the after party.

I was like "of course not!"

I was pretty anti social.

Yeah I'd say go man
Now for me I didn't want to attend mine at all my girlfriend had to practically drag me to our prom, but once we got there we had quite a bit of fun . There was good food, drinks, a lot of my other friends ended up going to so we ended up just hanging out together.
I had to dance a little to appease my gf so that wasn't fun but whatever in the end it was a pretty cool experience

I never went to any school dance. I left that to the more popular people and extroverts.

As an introvert, I'd rather stay home and play a game, watch a movie, read a book, etc.

Pretty much this. *Maybe* if you have a bunch of friends it could be worth going to? I still don't see the point of spending a bunch of money when you could just hang out somewhere else with your friends though.

A lot of people had asked me why I didn't come. Psshtttttttt, you had to pay to go... are you kidding me? Of course I was not gonna go if i'm paying for the free food I'd look forward to.

It might sound sad but I didn't go on any trips either, I never wanted to ask for money from my rents
