I have been on and off learning or just messing about with anime style drawings and wondered from all those that do it themselves at whatever level how you ended up getting into it and where you ended up learning from, myself ive drifted in from watching some you tube tutorial things as is with most things nowadays as it seems to be the better way i personally learn from seeing it being done and explained.

What was your starting point or inspiration for doing it in the first place and what motivation kept you going?

I used to watch anime on television at very young age (though I thought Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Yu-gi-Oh, Digimon, Card Captor Sakura and EscaFlowne were just cartoons. Nope.) But what has inspired me to draw anime style characters was my love for manga (Mostly Fruits Basket & Saiyuki). They have expanded my imagination and has helped me to become a better person than I used to be from middle school.
I just hope that some day that my graphic novel would become a favorite to fans in different countries, even the Untied States.

Better to say drawing manga or just some kind of non-comic composures, as most of us aren't doing animation.

I have a bunch of illustration pens. I find it's best to do a sketch before you even think about inking.

I started drawing anime when DBZ was the hype.

I actually won best drawing in my Elementary class-- drawn Super Saiyan Goku right on the spot.
Drawing super saiyan was addicting back then. And also these leaf-like energy blast and colliding blasts.

That's not drawing, right?

That's more like tracing.

It is a drawing technique. Very effective one.

I do so whenever I feel motivated, which is very rarely.
What first started was my Pokemon fandom as a kid, then when I started getting into other Anime it just escalated, then all of a sudden I got into cute Anime girls and now don't even try drawing anything else.

The line work of my avi is done in Adobe illustrator, then colored in depth on Photoshop.
I recently enhanced the colors of my avi with a Photoshop action.

I used Manga Studio 5 to do this:

it's a doodle.

i'm a portrait artist... I've been drawing human beings since I was 3 years old.

so naturally, drawing manga & anime characters is like drawing stickmen for me; it's very easy and simple. I didn't need to re-learn how to draw them.

this is one of my fanart I did for an online art competition for a game:

I took the inspiration from this pose by Christina Aguilera:

I didn't win, but it doesn't really upset me, because I'm very proud of my artistic abilities even if its inferior to others. Having this gift allows me to appreciate other parts of my body such as my eyesight... being able to capture the beauty of the human face... seeing the symmetry, the complementing colours of hair colour or eye colour... it's very special to me.
