The monogatari series is different, but I really enjoy it's clean/abstract combination it has going on. Nisekoi and Mekaku City Actors also have fantastic styles.

Some animes have worse drawing than the original (manga or light novel)

Try comparing flowers of evil manga and anime

Oh God... Talk about ripping my heart out and stomping all over it. Probably the single greatest anime disappointment I've ever had.

But to answer op's question, personally I am always in favor of trying new things.

While I don't really like the aesthetic of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, I thought Kill la Kill and Attack on Titan looked amazing. The artistic design of both of them really suited the story they were paired with. AoT's thick lines were really charming and gave everything a sort of hardened or shadowed feel that really resonates with the material. As for Kill la Kill, the intentional sloppiness of the art adds to the chaotic style of the show as a whole: there's no way it would have been as fun as it was without it. The art design is spot-on for both of those anime. I don't plan on picking up Jojo's, but from what I've heard about it, it seems as though the art is similarly well-suited.

I'm one of those people that is drawn to difference. If an anime has noticeably stylish art, it makes it much easier for me to grow attached to it. That certainly doesn't mean that a more typical-looking anime can't become a favorite of mine on the story alone, because plenty of them have. It's just that I really like when the aesthetic designers push the boundaries a little, especially when they do it in such a way as to emphasize the mood of the anime. This is a visual art form: when an anime uses it visual style to support the story it's telling, it's perfectly legitimate to appreciate that.

Katanagatari had a cool drawing style to it, plus it was a great show.

I feel like it's less about everyone being attractive, and more about how generic and same everyone looks? A diverse and expressive art style is a big element in a lot of anime/manga.

You can pretty much say any anime has a weird style as long as it doesnt appeal to you. I find Sword Art Online is too popular and has a weird style. I dont care for newer anime looks.

I have noticed that the animes that are popular recently have weird style of drawing.

The funny thing is, the anime with the worst drawing of the season is like the most popular one

Ones I'm referring to: Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Now, every time I see an anime with that kind of drawing, I start to assume it will become popular.

Attack on Titan has bad art-work?

Hahaha, that's a new one.

That's probably the point though, right? A world that's probably extremely beautiful, vast, and homely... except the fact that there are grim, beaten characters and civilization-wrecking fights. They're supposed to be grittier than everything else because they're the ones fighting bloody battles and fearing for their lives. If they were drawn in a cute style like Nourin or Nisekoi, I wouldn't have been able to watch it. I think Attack on Titan's art is really good because it suits the anime. Thanks to this way of thinking, it's difficult for me to find art styles that I think are weird or just plain bad. I don't like the style for Nourin, I hate that type of thing, but it really is good art - it fits the type and style of the story extremely well.

In the end, I think people are probably looking for things that are different. Back in the 80s and 90s everything looked so alike that it was hard to find this kind of variety. Everyone could be going overboard, but it's fun, isn't it? I love seeing most of the styles I come across. Look for older stuff and the differences in animation grow so much smaller. I find it fun and refreshing that there's so many different things to look at now. Maybe a lot of others feel this way, too.

I don't know about Kill la Kill, but I can't find anything wrong with the art for AoT or JJBA.
