heylo. figured I would see how people are doing. I just got my Security + certification. I know this is a strange place to ask but does anyone know if their company is hiring?

Congrats on the cert! Unfortunately, my company isn't hiring, I checked, we just filled all our positions again recently, my boss said. Hope you can find a position soon, man. Good luck!-Mike

Thank for checking for me. Unfortunately I live in a navy heavy city and you need a security clearance to get a job in most positions around here and nobdoy wants to sponsor me for one.

Good (insert your current time of day here), techies!

I found a really interesting product I thought I'd share with you. It is the Asus Vivo Tab Note 8, Windows 8.1 tablet.

What do you guys think of Windows tablets, and would you use one for work, school, or play?

I can remember countless times where I wish I had had a full desktop OS, preferably Windows, in a tablet form, but not at the price of the Microsoft Surface Pro. The Surface is too heavy for a tablet, can heat up when put on your lap, and is all around unwieldy for every-day carry. This is my opinion, of course.

I've been looking for a Windows tablet about the size of my Nexus 7 (2013) - and around the same price point, too!- for a while. My coworker saved the day once again by showing me the Vivo Tab Note 8. It is made by Asus, the same company that makes my Nexus tablet, and shares many of the same qualities. It also comes with a nifty Wacom pen and digitizer that many people are saying is a wonderful addition to the tablet - even better than the Surface's pen.

Anyhoos, tell me what you think of this tablet. I will be buying it soon and will post my review as well. Cheers!-Mikael

1) What drew you to the field of computers/IT?
I remember my first experience with a computer (although vaguely), I was in second grade, I think I was taking science and math programs through computers, but I found it fascinating. It was almost magical.

What is this strange contraption and how does it work? I asked this questions to myself. Unfortunately, I was kept from computers for a long time after elementary school. I still felt fascination towards computers, but at this point, I was disinterested. I never owned a computer at home, so it was strange for me to think about working with computers.

It wasn't until I was 17, when I transferred school, that teachers started using them for classes again. They would allow students to browse the web after class was done, and I found myself back with the mysterious feeling.

I pursued a career as electrician thinking it might work, but I really had no clue as to what the hell I wanted to do with my life. I felt unsure about it after completing the associates degree in electricity. I didn't want anything to do with that, so my mother suggest I study computers.

After wasting over a year without going to classes, I was conflicted again. But, I've now decided to pursue a career in that field, the problem lies in that I have so much until my scholarship runs out.

I want Computer Science (and I can only go for the Bachelor's Degree for now), but every university near by offers Information Systems. I could take both, but I can't afford them after my scholarship runs out. So I have to choose one. I'm not sure, though, which one offers greater job opportunities: Computer Science or Computerized Information Systems... and so, I struggle lives on.

2) What is your OS of choice?
I currently run on Windows 8.1 and I've found it relatively better than Windows 7.

3) What is your favorite anime/manga/movie/TV show/book?

Favorite anime: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Steins;Gate, Clannad, etc.

1. What pulled me to computers was the endless amount of ideas that can be achieved with them. Currently in high school, but I can program (C#, C++) and web design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) a bit. Right now, I'm learning .NET MVC and Direct X.

2. Running Windows 8.1, but I wouldn't say I have a favorite OS. What does bug me when people say 7 > 8 though. As for my opinion Mac vs PC for the IT folk, Macs are only for Apple development, mostly iOS dev.

3. At the moment, my favorite animes are Clannad, Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Railgun, and Accel World. A list of what I have watched and am currently watching is on my profile
