The red nose thing....that's where the term "gin-blossoms" comes from. I don't drink these days. Can't do my artwork, can't read, can't drive, can't screw. That's where cannabis comes in.......(Sunshine of Your Love starts playing).....

It probably also means hellashious hangovers. I knew some races and women in general produce less of enzymes necessary to metabolize alcohol, but didn't know it was linked to the flush reaction.

Btw eggs are good for hangovers, they contain large quantities of a chemical the body uses to deal with alcohol.

Then there are people like me who are so sensitive to tannins that most types of alcohol make you immediately sick.

Im a pale redhead and I find certain types of alcohol cause me to have the blush effect, it sucks because it makes it so obvious that you've been boozing it up

my korean friend gets it lol. he needs to take a pill of sorts (readily available at any drug store, but i forgot what it is...) an hour b4 we drink or everyone will know he is drunk/ has been drinking lol. he calls it "asian flush". all it takes is 1 drink too. i guess in asia however, alot of people get it, so no one feels the need to hide it. thats probobly why they use it to show someone who is drunk in anime and manga. i also like it too cuz it really lets the viewer know that a character has been drinking without so much as a second thought.

1 drink and I'm as red as a tomato. Asian flush indeed.
I'm surprised people didn't know about this though. I thought it was a common enough thing.
Guess it's because I'm Korean plus the fact that I live in a such an Asian populated area.

When you drink alcohol you are pretty much guaranteed to flush the toilet soon after.

My brother drank alcohol for the first time and he ended up with an allergic reaction.
He was agitated that he was getting rash all over his body, starting from the chest then to his legs.
I told him not to worry about this allergic reaction. It wasn't that serious. If he was heaving or unable to breath properly, then that's serious.
Anyway, he went to the hospital, after excusing himself from work. I wouldn't known about it if I did not call him on that time.
I told him that it'll just cost him a lot of money and time in the hospital.
Affirmed him that it's not serious. Then, I suggested him to take some over-the-counter medicine or cream to deal with the allergy.

It worked.

That's what he got for ditching me to watch The Raid 2 and Captain America over his lame-ass party on one of his coworker's house.

I got my justice!!!

What an interesting pub fact this is. It's a shame I don't have any friends of Asian/oriental decent to share this information with over a pint of strong ale or cheap lager.

I am Caucasian, but this totally happens to my cheeks after two or more drinks. I had no idea why until now. My chinese roommate called it my "Asian Glow," which I always thought was a nice way of putting it.
