If so, what type do you own. How much is the insurance? What brand should I get? The pros and cons? I would like to purchase one because next year I will be transferring to another college. I'm saving money. So yeah if you have any other advice I would like to know :p Sorry for asking a lot of questions, I'm doing some research but I need more information.

Yes, I own a Honda VTX 1300cc. Cons: freakin' dangerous. Pros: 60 miles to the gallon...and, I gotta tell you, it's the most fun I've ever had in my life. Been riding for 7 years now....over 300,000 miles of EXP. Made a load of friends.

Advice: if this is your first bike, then you may be tempted to by a small one, like a 250cc Honda Rebel. Don't do it. Get at least a 750cc. The ride is much smoother and you are going to want the power to keep up with traffic should you want to traverse the highway.

Take a thorough training course. And, of course, drive defensively.

As far as what make to buy, that's up to you. I love my Honda and I never have any problems. However, even more than a car, maintenance is of the utmost importance. So if you get one from a dealer, ask about a periodic tune-up plan. Otherwise, be prepared to learn how to change the oil and tighten and grease the chain (if applicable...some bikes have a belt or direct drive-shaft).

That's about all I have to offer. Lemme know if you have any more specific inquiries and good luck if you get one. It's the best.

Hi! I'm closing this because individual personal request for help/advice threads are against the rules. However, there is a separate thread for General Help and Advice. Here's the link:

/forumtopic-1099/the-general-helpadvice-thread (It's "stickied" near the top of the General Discussion Forum, so look for it there if you need it again in the future!)
