After being exposed to too many ecological-type messages in shows and films I watched as a kid, and growing up in the countryside surrounded by mostly sheep and green and boredom and despair, I've developed a tremendous contempt for environmentalism and all the movements clustered with it such as organic food.

That probably weighs more in my decisions than my beliefs about the facts, although of course I do also believe that the benefits of organic food are negligible at best after accounting for placebo effects.

I hate all food except cake.

Will never date anyone who tries to force that organic lifestyle down my throat. Cake is the only enjoyable food in life for me. If someone gives me cake, I will love them for life.

I don't mind it, though it irritates me when some people assume that organic/natural/holistic equals "safe" and "cure for all." That's not how it works. For example, marigold has tons of health benefits, but, should you develop an allergy from overuse, none of that means jack and you may die of it.

I've noticed that it gets used as a sales-gimmick, too.

GMO generally doesn't bother me on a small scale. The crap that leads to crops being vulnerable to superbugs and animals dying of their modifications doesn't sit well with me.

It angers me to see large expanses of windmills that aren't being used. I've come across a huge wind farm in Indiana with easily over 500 windmills, yet less than 1/4 of them are being used. A wind farm near Altoona, PA isn't much better, with 1 or 2 out of every 10 running. Sure "green" energy isn't perfect, but it's rather ridiculous to waste those machines!

I'm not a fan of dangerous pesticides, and the overuse of pesticides.

If you want to live a with an "organic" diet

Why don't you just grow your own food and eat it? I think it'd be cheaper and taste better.

I don't care enough to do that, but I might start doing maybe when I get my own place with a gardening area.

I live in a middle of fucking forest in nowhere so you could say I'm living a natural lifestyle.

...still I'm sitting in front of my computer and eating trash food like it was my last day lmao

I'm glad that I have an naturally high metabolism so I still stay fit even if I live like shit

My main problem with organic food/ organic food culture, is that most of the adherents don't realize they are still giving money to big corporations. Most organic labels are owned by big agri- buisness, because organic farming is expensive. I also think too many people approach the topic the way they do fashion, as in they do it because its cool, in, hip, etc. Most of the studies done on organic vs conventional farming show no difference, and the ones that do use poor research methods. Lastly, in several blind unscientific tests people usually choose the conventional produce as tasting better or equal to the organic produce.

If a natural disaster occurs, I have a feeling maintaining an organic lifestyle would be the last thing on peoples' minds.....
