About seven years ago, I ordered a salt lamp for my mother. It never arrived.

I worked at a FedEx last year near Durham, North Carolina . I saw people tossing packages around and them falling/tossed off of conveyor belts. A group of morons even haphazardly knocked around a $1000+ television set. I've seen packages on the ground by conveyor belts that are forgotten for hours.

It happens, but as far as I can remember, it only happened to me once that a package got lost in the mail. It happened when I ordered something in the middle of a move, and my package ended up being delivered to the wrong place. I tried to get it, but unfortunately nobody who is there after moving noticed anything about a package. It was only a DVD that I ordered from Right Stuf, so at least it wasn't very costly to replace it.

Haven't bought anything for the past 6 months due to the shock of so many lost packages. I don't have much money and can't afford to waste what little I have. T__T

I ordered season one of Aria the Animation from RightStuf a few months ago, and it never showed up. The package was tracked as delivered, but obviously it either wasn't or was stolen because I never got it.

Thankfully though, RightStuf's customer support is badass and I got another copy shipped to my place for free, and I am really enjoying the show.

Huh. I must have really good luck. O.o
I did order a pair of shoes once, and they came (in their shoebox) in a plastic sleeve. The shoebox was so destroyed that it literally fell apart when I opened it and it's a miracle that the shoes were unharmed.

A few months back I ordered some ammunition (150 rounds of .45 ACP) from a website. It shipped via FedEx, and when it got to the sorting plant nearest to me, it just disappeared. The last scan on it was it arriving at the facility and then NOTHING. I called them repeatedly, had them search their building for it and they never found it. Personally, I know that one of the people at that facility stole it. Of course, the Manager there never confirmed that, nor did she seem to care that it was stolen. Luckily the site I ordered sent me a replacement order (via UPS this time) and it made it to me with no issues, and the site then filed with FedEx for them to reimburse them for the lost package. Honestly, up til that point I'd NEVER had an issue with any package, including things I ordered from Japan and Malaysia, but just the fact that the Manager at FedEx refused to admit to anything wrong happening has officially turned me off from their whole service. UPS and USPS are the only carriers I use now.

My parents had the brilliant idea of mailing my paycheck a week or two ago, and it ($80) got lost in the mail.

Life sure is fun.

I just had a shock for my DH bike delivered yesterday. Well, the envelope the shock was improperly packaged in made it here at least. The envelope ripped during transit and the shock was lost somewhere between Washington and California, but by some miracle one of the processing centers found it. It took a little detour, but at least now it is on the way once again.

I was livid when I saw that my $600 shock didn't make it to my apartment because of improper packaging. The thought of losing that investment actually made me feel sick.

I have also had stuff arrive damaged, but until now I had never received a ruptured package with nothing in it.

I've never had a problem with UPS, USPS is a different story. Twice a package has never arrived and another time it was damaged. When it comes to Fedex, the only thing is that they sometimes leave the package on the sidewalk.

Not really.
I did have a package shipped to a different location before.
The shipping was correct and everything.

UPS has failed me many times. I have had several expensive packages damaged, and then they weaseled out of paying despite the fact I paid for extra insurance. I lost several hundred dollars worth of stuff thanks to that.

I've had OK luck with Fedex, but they are expensive so I don't use them often. Since I don't use them often, I haven't had a chance to get screwed over by them yet. Reading some of these posts makes me worry about them though.

Honestly, my best luck has been with the US postal service. They are slower for sure, but the workers seem to take things a little more seriously and prices are more reasonable since the government doesn't have the same profit motive as a private company.
