Hello everyone!

I work for a health insurance company in a new division they made for policies being sold on the new health insurance exchange. Everyday I deal with customers who had a difficult time signing up on healthcare.gov or dealing with their customer service team.

I want to know if this was the typical experience of people who signed up for health insurance through the insurance exchanges.

Good, bad, or in between what was your experience with buying health insurance this past year?

I didn't use it to sign up really but my parents did. I used it and it told me to go to my states medicaid site to sign up and that's what I did. That site actually had more issues than healthcare.gov for us though. It kept giving me technical errors day after day when I tried to submit the application. None of them ever seemed to go through until all of a sudden I was being contacted by medicaid letting me know I was approved. It was a nice surprise but still frustrating to think that you might have issues with your medicine soon. My parents had no issue at all signing up through the healthcare site though. I showed them how it worked and then they did it on their own and didn't run into a single problem.

I did not. I recieved a new plan through my job after my last one was cancelled for non compliance. I cant complain though, because its a better plan then what we had. Emergency room visit for an abcessed tooth, and a scrip for antibiotics cost me 0$ (Health Republic Magnacare plan)

Canada gets free healthcare, and it is absolutely a nightmare haha. Oh well, good thing I don't believe in doctors anymore. All they say anyways is get plenty of sleep and drink lots of fluids >_>. And I've probably been to the doctor's office more than double a normal person, yet they have all be utterly useless. It is a respected profession? I wanna punch the guy that decided that....I prefer mangaka and anime directors tbh. They are the real "sensei".

Our state is doing the medicaid expansion as well and that's causing us a lot of problems too. They'll send us people's applications with misinformation but won't let us (the insurance company) fix it unless they send us a new application with the correct info. It's a prime example of bureaucracy at it's worse.

I am sure if more than one of my applications made it through then some weren't entirely accurate either. At one point I got so annoyed that I didn't bother filling out the final parts accurately just so I could get through to the submitting part to see if it was going to work that day. I just figured I would correct the application if one finally did manage to get through.

Got coverage through the VA's ACA thing-a-majig.
Figure I'm glad I don't live in AZ still and none of my immediate medical conditions might ensue in my death due to lack of taking medical action.

Everything I've seen or heard, it's easier to go a different route to get your ACA junk done or just say EFFF YOU Obama Care!

I signed up through healthcare.gov. Although, I'm overall happy with how things turned out (i'm saving a lot of money... i'm in low-income bracket), the technical/signup issues were tiresome. At first it was just with healthcare.gov... when that got ironed out, then I had problems with the insurance company not knowing my healthcare.gov details...

It all worked out in the end though. Glad I signed up.

Well I don't make enough money to qualify for healthcare and the prices they were giving me were over $200 a month, but the good new was that since I made such little money had Texas expanded medicaid to adults I would have qualified but since I don't I got a waiver so I don't have to be fined for not carrying insurance, hopefully texas will expand medicaid though.. I'm tired of not being able to go to the doctor when I'm sick.
Honestly you'd think that the less money you made the cheaper they'd make your healthcare but nope it gets more expensive.. While my mom gets to pay 35 dollars a month for awesome healthcare I just at least don't get fined when I do my taxes.

It would be nice if everyone would use a centralized system like the military. Somedays it's like the Insurance Exchange doesn't even know what their own records say.
