Personally, i think that dubbed animes are only done well when its a major release in America, and even then sometimes that doesnt stop them from cheaping out on actors *coughnarutocough*. Some of my favorite dubs are FMA, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Z. All loved and televised. A lot of the dubs that are being released will never get tv time so to maximize revenue they skimp on the English Voice Acting giving you terrible dubs knowing that people loved the original release from Japan and are either incompetent enough that they "hate reading what they are watching" or are only buying it so they can watch it in the jap dubs. The original jap dubs are so highly regarded because they had to create a fanbase to start and coming out of the gate with bad voice acting is a bad way to do it, so of course they are usually going to be better cause all America has to do to the anime is tell someone to say it in English.

Then you get the super fans who refuse to watch dubs because "I'M SO KAWAII DESU" and just complain about how much they wish they were Asian.

I would prefer to watch in English just so i can easily multi-task with playing a game or anything, but i would of course choose subs over terribad subs depending on the show. But do i rage or get anally torn over bad dubs? no.

Most hated dubbed animes?

Naruto. Just his character ruins the entire show which isn't that good to begin with. Please don't threaten to tell your Sasuke body pillow on me Naruto fans, i don't think i could handle that.

How to get rid of the reading subs problem:
1.Spend an hour a day learning how to speed read for one week
2.Problem solved for life

I generally prefer subs because the voices don't sound like anything I'd hear IRL, so it fits the fantasy theme for me. It's also because of my addiction to them, I used to hate listening to Japanese when I started subs since I found things like honorifics at the end of names to be weird such as XXXX-sama.

The dubs that I really liked, and that nickelnot317 seemed to have enjoyed as well, are Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and DBZ. I've even seen reviews that say the dubbed Cowboy Bebop is better than the original version. Personally, I also think that the English versions of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z should be, and probably are, held in higher esteem because they have acted as a bridge that enabled thousands of English speaking people to become interested in other dubbed and subbed anime.

An English dub thread *breathes deeply* OK here I go

I usually watch the dub but if it doesn't have one the I will watch sub. I can sit back and relax after a long day while watching dubs. I also watch subs but I get tired of reading after awhile. Plus I can't compare the two anyway since I can't speak Japanese

I for one think we need to use more humane methods, shock collars or something.

Shock collars controlled by sadist females then? Yandere is just a bonus in this.

Hmm I think my M side is showing a bit too much...

99% of the time I will choose dubs over subs, but haven't we had this thread topic a million times before?

I wouldn't mind, since ALMOST every female lead sound like little girls in Japanese while in English they sound like women. But I solve that by watching anime with a mostly all male cast and it keeps me sane

I don't get why people are getting angry about this thread. It's your fault for clicking on it. Anyways, I watch both. I love good dubs. I'm not a sub elitist.

When it comes to dubbed anime there is only a few that i have actually enjoyed like FMA and Darker Than Black. I personally would rather have it subbed i feel a lot of time the dubbed takes away a lot of the emotion and sounds goofy and not right to me
