**THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS**

I have watched the first 3 episodes (and will watch the 4th one once it releases tomorrow) of Oreca Battle and I have to say that it isn't that bad. The art work, story, and kind of "style" of anime is similar to Bakugan, Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, etc. The episodes are roughly 12 minutes long.

In short, the anime seems to be about a young kid named Orega Fire (why they made the main characters name so close to the title, I don't have a clue). There is this kind of card game, virtual machine that you can play oreca battles on. They are playing it outside where a machine is located and all of a sudden monsters start becoming real, coming from portals in the sky. In short, Fire gets offered to play a "real" oreca battle, one that isn't just played on a virtual machine.

That's where our story begins.

What I do like about the anime is it seems to be something a bit different. I think the different monsters are neat because they each seem to have a personality. There are some inconsistency issues though. Some monsters can speak and others seem to only "pokemon talk" (say different variations of their name).

The other thing that I find odd is it doesn't seem like people can see the monsters spawning in the human world (adults seem to not be able to). I'm not really sure what is going on with that or if it will be explained later.

Lastly, the animation is decent but not overwhelming. Some of it is a little cheesy but other parts are done decently.

As far as ratings go:

Story (so far): 3/5
Animation: 3/5
Characters: 4/5

Overall: 3/5

I would consider watching the first few episodes of this show if you are a fan of some of the other series that seem a little similar. If you enjoy Bakugan, Yu-gi-Oh and things of similar nature, check it out!

I've tried all three of this season's "kid" shows that CR got, and have watched through episode 3 of this one and dropped it. That doesn't mean it's bad for what it is, but I found it a bit too weird and not endearing (I did not watch other similar anime when I was a kid, so it could be that I'm simply not acclimated to it).

I find the talking oreca box to be creepy and not fun--it doesn't seem trustworthy and feels like a trap. I keep expecting something tricksterish to result from it, but then I think I'm just bringing my expectations from adult shows to it.

I also found the meld between real world and oreca world to be confusing--especially with everyone (except our hero's) cardfaces disappearing. And those tomatoes at the beginning of the first episode? Too trippy!!

Anyway, I'm glad someone else is checking out these kid's show. The one I'm likely to stick with is Dragon Collection. I guess it's pretty bland, but I find the MC more endearing--and there's no creepy talking box (even though there is a cutesy dragon and I don't tend to like cutesy animal characters). I wait until the weekend to watch, where it serves as a gentle start to Saturday mornings reminiscent of watching cartoons when I was a kid.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. For me, shows like these bring back so much nostalgia that they can be fun to watch. It doesn't really take up too much time because the episodes are only 12 long.

I am really confused as well about the oreca world and human world. I don't understand how or why they mesh or what is really happening. Why can some people see the monsters and some can't? I'm hoping they will touch on this in the future.

For now, I will probably continue to watch it when I have time.

I haven't watched dragon collection though, would you recommend it?

Like Oreca Battle it's very short, and the first episode will pretty much tell you whether or not you'll like it. It's a lot like Oreca Battle, but the MC seems a little sweeter and less gung-ho--though still excited about going out to do battle. It's also card-game is "real" fantasy world based.

There is a little bit of persisting tension related to the cute dragon, so while "bland," it's not like everything gets wrapped up neatly at the end of each episode.

I'm only watching Oreca Battle and Majin Bone this season out of all the kids shows. I think I just randomly picked this title since there's not much to watch on Mondays. As far the show itself, it actually has a decent balance of battles but the overall tone isn't something fit for my taste.

Yeah, it's blend but I think this one also brings back the nostalgia for me.

Anyone see the latest episode?

Can anyone figure out why exactly that Orega is allowed to have the dragon just hanging out everywhere? Can no one else see it? It seems as if no one else ever acknowledges it...

I did and for that question, I think it's just part of the show's gimmick so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The battle part remains the main concept still.

Yeah, I think you are right. It's my guess that we will see more and more battles with tougher opponents and new challenges. I'm sure we will also see Orega get some new Orecas and such. And in the end, there will be a giant battle and friendship will win. I just hope that the ride is interesting,
