Was there an anime that you loved, but dropped because of how much one part upset you?

So I got my friend hooked on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He loved it as much as I did. Jonathan Joestar was a man among men, and every episode was awesome.

Well, every episode up until

My friend has lost all motivation to continue the series because of how upset he is over that. >_>

Nope. And I'm sure he'll get over it and continue to watch it later.

Nope. Personally I think that is a silly reason to stop watching; the whole point is to get upset, and watch to see what happens next. It's called plot development.

I understand you guys opinions, but sad to say I have dropped a couple anime due to certain parts that I found outrageous. I always give a show a chance, but sometimes I'm like why did that even happen.

Or sometimes I finish an anime, to be extremely disappointed.

I feel for your friend, I understand his reason, I felt like that when Mayes Hughes died in FMA, but I finshed that show.

Your friend could learn a couple of things from Jotaro later on if he/she happens to Man Up and get to Our current point of the animated series...LOL

I knew beforehand that would happen in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, considering I started with part 3 back in the 90's. Even if I didn't, after you watch so many animes you can actually tell quite a few episodes in advance who will die. Writers often use very similar for-shadowing techniques.

For example, if there are two friends, and one friend relies on the other friend. 9 / 10 times those friends will either have a falling out, or one of them will die. If it is an action type of story.

Main character's mentor/ father figure, most likely will die/betray main character.

I recently watched an anime where from the first episode, I knew a character was going to die. And he did, in episode 26.

I generally drop animes if they are boring or depressing. Usually depressing means that I just can't bring myself to like the main character.

I wouldn't say I've ever dropped one I loved, but I have dropped at least one that was pretty interesting, because of something happening to a character, and it made me too depressed to continue. I keep intending to finish it, but I keep getting the "yucks."

But that's OK. I say, life's too short to watch an anime that you can't enjoy in some way or other.

If anything it compels me to watch it more. If an anime can make you cry then most of the time it's because it's doing a really good job of getting you attached to the characters. As for characters dying,
To anyone who wonders why I made that a spoiler, people are being newly introduced to anime all the time. That anime might be popular, but it doesn't neccessarily mean everyone who wants to see it has.
