What is your favorite Anime Genre and why? And what Anime got you into this Genre?

sci-fi. because... in sci-fi, there's always a strong message they want to portray. and, I like it when people invent fictional scientific ideas/principles.
anime that got me into sci-fi? Aeon flux... this was years and years ago... when I was still in high school.

Fantasy. Because in fantasy, the author always create a new world... that's very different from present day Earth, and that intrigues me. I don't think it was anime that got me into fantasy and magic... I've been reading Fairy Tales since I was 4 or 5. So I've always been into Fantasy.

My favourite fairy tale story is, "The Happy Prince" by Oscar Wilde. And omg, when I was like 3 or 4, I couldn't stop crying from watching Disney's Pinocchio... every time I watch that, I always cry at the part where he dies.

Romance, Say I Love You really made me realize how much I liked the genre. I don't know it felt realer than other romances I've seen.

I have to say, I feel 100% the same way about Fantasy. I don't know what it is, but I've always loved the idea of a story that takes place in a completely different word, where the creator sets the rules, and determines what is and what isn't.

How is "Say I Love You"? I've had it in my queue for some time but I've never gotten around to watching it. And do you know any anime that is similar to it, to give a better idea about how it is?

Hmmm, well Its about a very shy girl who basically falls for a hot guy, very typical right? Well thats what I thought, they really do go through struggles and fairly realistic drama. People who look strong at first show weakness later in this show. It might surprise you if your use to watching cutesy romance it's not super gritty but it adds just enough realism to say man thats fucked up. I suggest give it a try its very short and enjoyable. Can't really compare it to anything notable but I loved it.

Also I did watch this with my GF of the time so that might of been another reason why I felt the drama, lol.

It sounds a bit like Ano Natsu de Matteru (Waiting in the Summer), and I absolutely loved that show. I'll be sure to check it out.

I enjoy fantasy and romance myself. Although I think romance in general works better as a sub-genre. Out of all of the ones I've watched so far, Toradora is like the best one and even then I'd barely give it a 10/10. Romance or rom-coms usually don't work so well since so many love stories have already been told using basically the same premises already.

Mindfuck.

Actually I like slow paced ones with good dialogue to leave you thinking about it afterwards.

Action: They definitely have some epic moments I really like. It's a really fun genre to watch.
Adventure: I find this genre very interesting and very entertaining. Action and Adventure together makes an outstanding combination.
Comedy: It's great for a laugh. And an awesome moment to kill time.
Fantasy: The genre looks superb too. It's always nice to kill off some monsters with magical powers. lol.
Harem: I'm actually starting to like harem. Combining that with comedy would make my day even brighter.
Mystery This genre caught my eyes too quickly. I thank Hyouka for making me like this genre. lol
School Life: I'm starting to really like this genre. Depending on the anime, as long as it's not too boring. lol.
Romance: It's always touching to see. Just like I said with harem. A combination with comedy is even better.
Yuri: Now I know what you're thinking. But I find it normal for a guy's fantasy. lol. Anyway, Yuri is really nice too. As long as any Yuri anime is not too bad, I find it enjoyable to watch.

Action, Fantasy and Romance.

I've just naturally loved the fantasy genre with all the different types of creatures and lore that can be found in them.
The Action Genre is just really great to watch with everything just constantly moving, and people being cut down.

Romance at first had never actually interested me until I watched Say I Love You and that opened my mind up to how amazing the romance Genre at times can be
