I like yuri more the less serious it's taken. Sakura Trick didn't appeal to me, because it was too in your face. Yuyushiki was similar in how heavy the undertones were. Some light yuri is all I need. Prisma*Illya and Hyperdimension Neptunia I think were joys to watch, and weren't held down at all by the yuri subtext.

When something controversial is put in a show for the sake of acceptance, it just feels like it's asking me, "Why haven't you accepted this yet??" I think if it's given less of a focus, it shows that people are willing to accept things like a gay or lesbian couple with a good degree of casualness, or can view it in a more objective light.

This guy gets it ^

Besides that, I don't mind yuri/shoujo-ai, but it does get annoying if my friends egg me on to watch/read more yuri related things....she only likes things with girl x girl >w<

Same thing can be said for Yaoi. I still prefer Yaoi, but Yuri is fine

Well it definitely appeals to my perverted side, I'm a sucker for it in that sense. If Sakura Trick didn't have yuri in it I'll admit that I probably wouldn't have watched it. Yaoi I will definitely give a miss though. I have nothing against gay guys, but as a straight dude it doesn't mean I want to see them going at it, or even doing something as softcore as kissing.

I've never seen one and I don't know of any. I prefer yaoi but I wouldn't mind watching a yuri anime if it was good.

Considering a yuri anime brought me into anime I could say that I really like the genre. One of my favorite anime is Aoi Hana and well done yuri anime. I read a lot of yuri manga series/one shots as well. It is one of my favorite genres with some of my favorite anime. Yuri can be very well done and when it is it is amazing.

Yuri is my favorite genre for anime, manga, and LN's. When it's done right it provides great stories. In all honestly I also live a bit vicariously through the stories.

Personally, I love yuri anime, but only if its done in a way that isn't purely for fetish reasons if that makes sense?
It's like, i hate it when it has yuri purely for male enjoyment/fanservice and less for, you know, actually portraying lesbian relationships.
It's almost like they can't believe that queer women actually exist and are capable of romanticism not for the sake of pleasing viewers.

EXACTLY! This is why I loved (and recommended) Sakura Trick. It focuses on the non sexual/fetishy side of Yuri.

You know, i've always thought of myself as a yuri fan, but i'm not so sure anymore based on what people are calling yuri and saying isn't yuri. Most of the yuri titles I enjoy are denoted as "shoujo ai" even though I want to deny the existence of that term.

For example, I really love stuff like Maria-sama ga Miteru, Onisama e..., Sasameki Koto, Aoi Hana, Strawberry Panic, Blue Drop, etc.

I don't mind the existence of yaoi either, but I wouldn't watch it. Though I might not be averse if it was tame.(like to Maria-sama ga Miteru levels).

I also like stuff like Sakura Trick and Yuru Yuri. But it just comes across as... too brazen, I guess? Maybe its because all the characters are too cute, but it detracts from the romance aspect of it for me. I love them as slice of life shows, but i'm somewhat indifferent to them as yuri titles, if that makes any sense.

That was probably the best detailed response I've gotten so far o-o

Pretty darn good, especially when there are undertones in so many all-female SOL's.

After watching Sakura Trick that I must say that they aren't as bad as people expect them to be. I wouldn't mind watching yuri anime from time to time.
