You know that feeling when it's 4 am and a particularly luscious image in whatever anime you are marthoning makes you press pause and hit the streets to find that vending machine that dispenses red bean soup cans (despite the fact you live in an small village. In England.) Or set off the fire alarms by making your first ever pork katsudon depite having no panko or indeed pork in the house? No?

Oh well.
Still, I need some kitchen inspiration for when I get back from late shifts at work. If someone doesn't help me, I'm just going to have Gintama style melted cheese (Ep 98) like always....which could lead to problems in later life.

If I get cravings while watching a show, I fix a peanut butter, jelly, and sardine sandwich (wheat bread) and wash down with a nip of Knob Creek (splash of water).

The only peanut butter I use is "crunchy". Not a fan of the "smooth" peanut butter as it sticks to my windpipe as if I were eating fresh concrete on a summer day. The jelly has to be blackberry for some reason.... it guess it just feels substantial unlike some crummy 3rd rate berry such as strawberry. And who eats apricot jelly, huh? Vile.

I then pile on a row of sardines pulled from a can that contains water (no oil). The sardines I use must be boneless because hey, eating bones is weird. They can be slightly seasoned as well (garlic salt, herbs, etc.).

All that slapped between two slices of fresh milled wheat bread. So, solid amounts of protein (nut, fish), simple carbs (jelly), complex carbs (wheat), fats (fish, peanut butter) and some fiber (wheat).

The perfect fish and nut meal.

I made it a point to never watch Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi in the evening back in the day because I always ended up going straight to a convenience store to buy food. Every time I watch that one scene with Chihiro's parents, I get real hungry, even after a huge dinner (traditional Japanese caretakers = huge calorie intake).

Totally got lost in my post and forgot to add that when I watch anime, I usually look for quick meals (if I'm hungry). And it's never really that healthy lol. For quick, but healthy meal recommendations; I'd go with buying high-lean, low-fat meats which you can grill fast. Like, pan-roasted chicken. Quick, easy, healthy.

Here's a simple porridge recipe. From Fruits Basket--Kyo's leek porridge to Toru. And you can customize it with other veggies and meats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU311ZlAio4
