Do any of you suffer from one of these? Does it make things tougher for you, and does it provide an advantage in other ways?

Personally, I have been diagnosed with ADD, and some of my family members think I have Aspergers as well. Honestly, it's not that fun, but it certainly has some perks. One thing ADD people can do that's kind of a plus? We tend to be faster learners than average, picking up things quicker and even being somewhat decent at things we try to teach ourselves. I think that this can be a fantastic plus side for a personality disorders, as it means I can adapt to thing, such as future jobs, faster.

The bad side? ADD. Attention Deficit Disorder. I have trouble focusing on things, and I lose interest in things rather fast. Sometimes extremely fast. That whole quick learner thing? Would be fantastic without the lack of focus. But with the lack of focus and interest? I can never focus or stay interested long enough to become really good or even great at the things I try. This can be overcome, truthfully, with perseverance, training, and/or certain medicines. If you suffer from ADD, you'll know how hard it can be sometimes.

So, what's your story? Are you struggling? Have you overcome your personality disorders? Do they have any good sides, like ADD does for me?

If you honestly have ADD, okay. If you don't and you're making a joke at mine and other ADD and ADHD sufferers?

Don't sleep with both eyes closed, and avoid back alleys..

Also? Not funny. At all. Makes you seem insensitive and a jerk. So, if you were serious, disregard. Joking? Go away, spammer.

Mhm. Well, at least ADD kind of helps with school work. I mean, me and another ADD person I know, both get fairly good grades with our inability to focus. If you ever need some help, send me a pm. I might be able to show you a few tricks I found helped me when I tried to study.

ADHD

Good part would be I haven't had to be on any meds for it since my pre-teen years and I've learned to control my ability to concentrate allowing me to really focus on things to learn them quickly.

Bad part would be when I'm feeling rushed or overwhelmed I tend to become very scatter brained and not able to focus, which in turns leads to me getting injured cause Im not able to fully pay attention to what's going on around me.

I know that. Whenever a ton of stuff comes at me at once at work,, or even out of work, I feel the same way. Like my mind is spinning around trying to keep up.

They thought I had ADD a long time ago and put me on Ritalin. Turns out they were wrong though. I was also diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. I don't know if that one is accurate or not either though. I never cared enough to continue seeing anyone who could give a second opinion and such.

Alright, alright. A tip? Be human, and apologize even if it's not your fault in particular when you try to appease upset customers. I love talking to new people about things that aren't important, especially when I need to kill time while I'm waiting in Safeway. Fun conversation I had while she rang me up? About phrases we use when we are feeling happy and energetic. It started when she said spiffy. I said that isn't a word commonly used in my experience. She listed some others she used, even one her friend uses. I threw in that I'm partial to the word dandy. Inane, pointless, probably stupid, but hey, I felt better after that little conversation.

As for your other clerks, do the same. Be human. Relate to them. Show 'em you care. It'll work out just fine.

Before I finish a sentence, talking to people, sometimes I just blurt whatever sound from my mouth. I think too fast that my mouth can't keep up. There are times I'm way too focus why a certain word sounds/pronounces like that or how/why the word is that word and I ended up not saying anything at all or just a sudden halt.

Hahaha I do know that feeling. In your head everything makes sense and fits together perfectly but when you go to say it you get tongue tied and trip over your words
