If you don't know what a internet meme is then.

An "Internet meme" is a concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the Internet, largely through Internet-based E-mailing, blogs, forums, imageboards like 4chan and Reddit, social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, instant messaging, and video hosting services like YouTube.[48]

Well let's get to the point... The reason why I posted this thread was because SL (a public transport company in Sweden) has started to advertise their cards for the summer using the doge meme.

And hence I want to know what you think about companies using memes as a way of advertising their products and/or services.

If I'm gonna be honest then I kinda like these type of adds because they are funny... But at the same time I don't like them since the original intention and purpose wasn't to... well... advertise for a big company.

Adverts have been doing this for a while now. It's always rather amusing when my parents hear some meme reference on a commercial and get that confused look on their face.

I don't really care. Funny ads like these are probably the most harmless of ads. It is a bit eye-rolling in some instances, though. It's like companies are trying too hard to be "in with the times."

Haven't seen memes specifically but I have seen ads that use "internet sensations."

Personally, I feel like this is a good idea, primarily because it would attract the younger people, but then again... I'm not exactly sure?

But on the other hand "younger people" usually don't have the money and I don't think this will effect the parents.

That video was actually really good and I agree with everything he said in the video!

Ehhh, its the Internet after all. But having belonged to summa those certain Sites during the times as to when many 'meme's were created, I find it kinda sad with just a WEE bit of nostalgia mingled in there.
