So Free Comic Book Day 2014 is in 2 days

Who's looking forward to it?

What's your favorite part?

Got any good stories?

Let's hear it

I always forget about this until it's too late--and there's even a comic book store about a 10 minute walk from my house!

I'm going to try to remember to go visit them.

I'm going to be the one going to my local comic book store in a simple costume, a member of the Court of Owls from Batman New 52

Your local comic book shop! (in the US at least). You can find a link to a participating store finder here:

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Home/1/1/27/992

Some online venues will also offer some free digital comics in addition to their regular free first issues.

I am so jealous that you have a local Kinokuniya! :)

But I'm a bit surprised. If you are in an urban area with a Kinokuniya, I would think there would be a local comic shop somewhere.

I didn't even know my city had a comic book store until my boyfriend dragged me to it. But I do quite like it. I'm guessing most urban areas have one, my city isn't exactly a big one compared to the capital of my state. The comic book store here is a small business and locally owned, and I'd guess most comic book stores are the same way. It's just a little hole in the wall, so I think people need to look very carefully in their city and the nearest ones before they can say that they don't have one.

Anyways, my hair is dyed red, which I found I like more than I thought I would, but it's growing out. Even so, I'm going to wear a Black Widow shirt to Free Comic Book day. I'll probably pick up a few free comics but I doubt I'm going to buy any... Okay it's a certainty I won't buy any. I don't have any money. It'll still be fun to see how busy that little shop gets. I'm there every week with my boyfriend who buys new comics.

My Free Comic Book Day haul:
http://i.imgur.com/Y93aH32.jpg]

I bought:
Judge Dredd Year One
Star Wars: The Old Republic (volume 1)
some Lovecraft stories at a bookstore next door (not pictured)

I got for free:
Showa
Rise of the Magi
Infinity
Guardians of the Galaxy
Future's End #0
Ipso Facto

So far I've only read Future's End, not really sure if I'll buy the rest of it though; a bit too dark and gritty for my tastes.

My favorite part was that I got to get in a two mile walk (to go there and back) because of it, so I burned off most my calories from breakfast! Gotta keep in shape, after all. I also got to check out a local Used and Rare bookstore that was neat, and got to check out a used music store. Almost went into the pawn shop but I already had spent nearly $50, and while my bank account had an extra $500 than I had expected I figure I can save most of that.

Turns out the store back home (I am in another city for college) is owned by someone who used to work at the store I visited. So that was neat! Had a nice chat with the owner since when I was there it was slow. Need to go back to the used book store and grab their graphic novel of Kafka's "The Trial" someday.

the line at my local comic book store was ridiculous. my feet were so numb but it was worth it with the good sales and free giveaways.

i was able to get 'Batman: Eternal 1-4" and "Ghost 1-3" for 20% off.

I had to go to my local one after work. Didn't see the free comics that I was hoping to see there (I guess they finished before I got there). Anyway, still got some stuff and some Harley Quinn goodies so not so bad for my first FCBD
