I tried to post in the help section, but it kept saying it was locked. I was curious if there was any plans to get Crunchyroll on the Amazon Fire TV. I love it, and my GF loves the Korean Dramas.

I looked up sideloading, but I couldn't get it to work. No idea what I was doing wrong. I got confused. :-(

I hope it is coming soon. I activated my 30 day of premium, and would love to watch it on my big TV. We had a Roku 2, but it died. :-(

Weird. I actually noticed your thread while randomly looking through the forums. Can't seem to find it at all now to see if maybe a mod posted in it. I have no answer for you though. I would assume so since they have released apps for things like the Kindle Fire and such but I have no idea for sure.

I hope it comes soon. That, or I figure out this sideloading this. One of the reasons I was hesitant on the Fire TV was no Crunchyroll. Just when the Roku 2 died, and my Roku HD died just last month; I figure to give Fire TV a shot.

Moved.

Fire TV is running a flavor of Android, so it would be expected that an app will appear in the future.

As only a moderator, I do not have the knowledge to say whether it is in development or not, but we can assume that it would be planned.

As I recall, their was someone in the Premium Members section of the forum that accomplished it, but I can't find their message now.

Did you use a technique similar to this?:
http://www.geek.com/android/side-loading-apps-on-to-the-amazon-fire-tv-1590288/

One item I noted is this:

Apps that you have side loaded using this method will not show up in the apps list on your home screen. The only content you will ever see in the Home area is Amazon approved content. In order to see and interact with the app you have installed, you need to go to Settings > Apps and look for your app in the list.

It is possible you succeeded, but simply didn't see the app because of this?

If you want to try it again, you may want to consider the APK for the OUYA app, since it was created for a device without a touchscreen:

fyi, if you are here, you can't start a new thread, (but you can go to an existing one and post a response). You have to first choose the sub-section where your (new) question or report is revelent.

Once you are there, then you can start a new thread:

I finally got it to work. It was weird. I just resetted my PC, and it worked when I tried again. No idea what was up, but hey, it worked.

Sadly, the Crunchyroll App sideloaded can't hold a candle to the Roku version. Can't even get use out of my free month of premium. Not a fan of watching it on my laptop. :-(

Oh well, it'll do until CR creates an official app.

Is the app not allowing you to sign in, isn't recognizing that you are currently premium, or did you mean something else?

Yeah, I can sign in but it doesn't recognize premium. I only get the benefit of seeing my queue.

Shows all in SD, and not HD. Which is fine.

Though here's another odd quirk - when I pick any "drama" it asks me to do a free trial. Sadly, it doesn't recognize my inputs with the remote when that comes up. I have to plug a mouse into the Fire TV in order to click "no" in it. When I pick any anime that offer to go premium doesn't pop up.

Just very weird over all.

Weird indeed.

The presence of your queue confirms it is indeed linking to your account, so you should be getting commercial free streams and access to premium-only anime episodes. The response when attempting to view drama is also strange, since it should stream with commercials. That prompt to upgrade is something one would normally only see in a premium only app such as the ones on the game consoles.

The last discussion on sideloading the app on the Fire TV was in the Premium Users section, so if this were a normal bug that resulted from the app not being designed for the unit, I would have thought it would have come up in that discussion.

If no one else has a solution, or customer support doesn't chime in soon, I would contact them directly about this issue, especially if you plan on continuing your subscription after the free trial.

Sadly, the general Android app still provides only 360p video. The OUYA app does provide up to 1080p, but when someone in this section sideloaded it onto their Kindle Fire, they reported it worked but still didn't provide HD.
