From someone who is not an elitist, it was a great dub! The ONLY issue I had was "Mikasa" was pronounced a little weird but that's far from a show breaker!

It's pronounced correctly, as far as I'm aware.

Also, if anyone was wondering, the English voice actress for Carla Yeager is Jessica Cavanagh. I remembered her as Moeka from Steins;Gate.

I have my DVR set to record it. The only reason that I'm watching it, is because I'm curious how the dub is.

Aren't we all?

I guess we are, lol.

I was having a conversation with my older brother, about anime, and how he missed watching shows like Yu Yu Hakusho, and Rurouni Kenshin, when we were younger. I'll have to show him this, because I think he would like it, and the dub would be a plus for him.

Or, you could do Black Lagoon. Or something similar.

Wouldn't call anyone an elitist. They're are a lot of good dubs out there. Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Trigun, Black Lagoon. Just felt like AOT dub was really lacking in this first episode. For something that suppose to be "the end of humanity" that emotion and desperation was really lacking (except from erin's mom).

I hate how toonami cuts the openings. I was really looking forward to hearing the whole opening...

Ive seen the first 5 episodes of the dub, and I have to say not all of the VA's are that great. Especially Eren's.

i might look into it if i hit a anime slump. I did not like the show that much, but maybe i might enjoy it more in my native tong.

That's the unfortunate truth about American TV. They are more reliant on commercials than in Japan and thus Toonami is forced to cut stuff out, and seeing how the theme songs don't get as much attention that they are the most logical thing to cut. That said, the opening theme song can be purchased on iTunes.

As for the dub so far, I just felt that the characters didn't exactly sound right for their age. I'm pretty sure that the performances will become more fitting after the time skip. Bryce Papenbrook has been the go-to guy for brash characters. Josh Grelle sounded off as Armin for some reason, and that maybe that I was expecting a female to voice him. Trina Nishimura is pretty fitting as Mikasa.

That's good to know. The OP is too good to be cut.

As for the episode, I found nothing wrong with it. Enjoyable in English the same as I watched it with subtitles. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes and upcoming characters.

Eren is so much more annoying in English than Japanese. Armin and Mikasa was fine.

Well got around to watching it, and being used to the sub. It was a little weird listening to the dub. Towards the end of the episode, I was starting to get used to it. Watching it though, still makes me yearn for the next episode, because in the end. It's still the same story, just different actors.

Well I hope they show all of the opening later and maybe they could cut the ending to make room for the opening, because I think the opening is what got so many people hyped up with attack on titan. The voice acting was good. It will take a few more episodes to get used to hearing it in english since I am used to hearing it in japanese. I hope people will give it a chance and not hate on it just because it is in english. People do not seem to complain about older shows, but mostly because they heard those first.
