I got really into the early Marvel cinematic universe films back when I was in middle school, so I started to seek out every superhero film I could find until I decided to give the comics a try by around my freshman year of high school. The first comic I ever read was Justice League: Origin. It has a fairly simple story but is dynamic and gorgeously illustrated by Jim Lee; honesty one of the best starter comics you could pick for new readers. I still remember being blown away as I read through it while standing around in the book store. I had honestly never thought before that you could convey such action and excitement solely through still images. After that I was hooked and quickly became a big DC fan. Ironically I never really ended up getting into Marvel that much, though I still watch their movies whenever they come out.

i didn't care about comics and didn't want to be one of those nerds , i just want to see Supergirl's origin story and see what x-23 was like in the comics so i picked up the trade Batman / Superman Supergirl and NEW X-MEN childhood's end vol. 1 just to see what they were like since I had always like superhero cartoon and shows since I was five. Only 9 years and 100s of comics later apparently say otherwise

cartoons, i know its supposed to be the other way around. but im backwards. i started watching cartoons as a child. later i found out many of them were based on comics. i couldnt afford comics as a kid. but i continued following the stories and what not, mostly through the shows. now that im an adult. i buy comics regularly now. and even though a lot of the plots are used in teh shows i watched. i get some good entertainment from them.

My dad would take me to watch all the superhero movies as a kid. Due to Marvel making more films back then (and even now), I'm more of a Marvel fan. My favorite was and still is Spider-Man, but the first comic I ever got was a Hulk one. Not even sure which comic, all I remember is that he was greyish. First comic I bought when I got older was Ultimate Spider-Man. Still collecting them slowly since I don't like wasting money on comics and manga.

That's how I learned to read. Favored DC comics. Didn't like Marvel comics much, probably because of the artwork. Would be a multi-millionaire today if my mom hadn't thown them all out.

My godfather used to buy them for us to read. Granted it was just your basic DC/Marvel stuff. Only when I was older did I get into Vertigo/Dark Horse and the more indie titles.
