I wouldn't have thought it has anything to do with money. Sure they might respect it less, but I don't think everyone who has a lot of cash is wasteful because of it. The guy in that video is just a moron. What annoys me is when you see these people with hundreds of millions, even billions of pounds or dollars, and they donate about 50,000-100,000 of it. Sure that's more than most people could pay but that's pocket change to them. If you've got more than you could ever get through in a thousand life times, spend it on improving the lives of others, don't just leave it sitting around untouched! That's the biggest waste of all. Like him or hate him, Bill Gates has it sorted with his money going to charity when he dies, others should follow suit. It annoys me when I see people who are, for example, in their seventies and have millions. They're not going to get through all that so for gods sake use it for something productive.

if the money was just sitting around they wouldn't be extremely rich. even being a trustee is about more than just giving money out, you get a lot of benefits in return.

Well the video on this topic seems like more than enough proof that there are idiots with money to burn.

well that depends on how many people will view said video... so depending on the motive (didn't watch it).

For gods sake, you didn't even need to watch it to know what I'm on about. There's a description clearly written in the OPs post, or did you not even read that either? In which case if you neither read the description nor watched the video, why are you even viewing this!?

The concept sounds so bizarre my brain didn't even consider your initial suggestion logical. Who markets a Mac by smothering it in food and sticking it on a grill? 'Hey guys, lets tell some random guy to ruin one of our products, that'll sell it, right?'. I'm sorry, I must still be misunderstanding what you're trying to say because the way I'm interpreting it strikes me as stupid in every sense of the word.

Well he doesn't seem limited to any particular brand. All his videos are just him destroying expensive gadgets in all sorts of ways. Only time I've ever heard of damage in marketing being brought up is in videogames with cars, where the companies don't want their vehicles being either severely susceptible to damage, or set on fire, so in my experience they'd want the opposite of that. He just seems like some random guy with no affiliation to any company in particular, and given how the like to dislike ratio is pretty much 50/50 if it IS a marketing stunt, it's not working lol.

Is it memorable or not? and is the value of the product transfixed in your mind?

Not really. I'll probably have forgotten by tomorrow. You'll get me to buy something by showing me what the product offers and the pricepoint, not by bashing it about. Any daft twat with a pair of hands could do that.

this questions brings the idea of

good vs bad

society vs the individual

but i am sure they did that to get viewers, its there job to make money on youtube. oil companies do the same thing, they pay off engineers with amazing ideas to have safe fuel, so that they can profit from selling their oil even though in the end run it would be better to transition to these safer forms of transportation.

So the guy who buys some expensive equipment only to wreck it with sauce and vegetables isn't an idiot? How the hell is that logical!?

If he makes more than a few thousand dollars from google paying him for views, or from people clicking on the advertisements that show before his video, then he makes money off your indignation.

you still think it's valuable, that's your problem and you will continue to. i don't think you'd need to know what the product has to offer or what the price points are, the message is clear.
