hey guys. i just picked up madoka rebellion the other day but i haven't had time to watch it. WITHOUT giving away any major plot points, does it live up to the hype?

what are your general thoughts of the movie overall?

please no spoilers.

I hated it.
I loved the original series but the movie was just an obvious cash grab.
It was poorly paced, the writing was contrived and the final plot twist was horrendously executed. I've never walked out of a movie before but I came ridiculously close to walking out of this one.
I'd put it on par with Hannibal in terms of bad sequels. I wish I hadn't seen it.

The movie makes little to no sense. The plot twist is retarded. I didnt know what the hell was going on pretty much the entire movie. It was kinda creepy. Had an awesome fight scene.

Well, I have to disagree with that, myself. I thought the movie did a fantastic job with what it was trying to do, and the plot twist at the end was hinted at for much of the movie.

This movie left me with the infamous feeling of "The Void" that I have not felt in a long while. 9/10 from me.

The way I rate it:
It gets a sequel - 10/10
Doesn't get a sequel - 9/10.

Found it to be a beautiful movie, and while the beginning mind-raped me as hell, was explained very nicely afterwards.
Mixed feelings about the ending, but more towards the positive side. (I tend not to judge things too strongly since it takes some enjoyment out of it.)
I will say that I can't call that much of an ending tho, so hoping it gets a sequel.

The opening bit was a bit silly, IMO, but the rest of it

Amazing film.
I recommend giving it a couple watches though. There are a lot of little details that are easy to miss. Plus, after seeing it once, and knowing the ending, I found a lot more jumps out at you (to the point where any "twists" really aren't as random as they first appeared).
I like films that get better with multiple viewings. I definitely feel I got my money's worth.

I think the best part of the film is that it's a great conversation piece. I know I didn't shut up about it for weeks and I loved debating it with people.

It's open to interpretation and it makes you think. I really appreciate when a movie does that. Films like this are few and far between.

I simply love PMMM and I consider it a classic anime already, and I haven't watched the movie. I have avoided all spoilers for it too. I don't want the movie to take away the sheer beauty and bittersweet sacrifice of the ending that the anime evoked.

The movie will not fit your expectations of it, it certainly didn't mine, but if it did, it wouldn't have been able to match the greatness of the first series. The movie, was in many ways brilliant. Thinking over it, I loved it. I'm not sure I can say it was as good as the original series, but this is a movie worth watching.
