1. Is there a foreign version of the holiday in other countries?
I'm pretty sure there are some, but I don't know much about them.

2. Have you ever gotten your mother something for Mothers Day?
No.. Well actually, I ever got her some stuff when I was in elementary, but I don't really count those.

3. Is there any point in having such a holiday?
Not really. I mean like, it's important for me to show appreciation to my mother, but it doesn't have to be in mother's day. It's just a good reminder to me.
My mom doesn't care much about mother's day either. She wouldn't know mother's day is coming if it isn't because of store ads

4. Are you a mother yourself? Have your children ever given you something special on that day?
I'm not a mother.

Mommy is the best! But I usually forget about Mother's Day... It never seems to make it onto my radar. Now I feel bad that I forgot to make dinner reservations or something. I'm the worst.

It actually falls on My Mother's Birthday... She'll be 64 this Year, and still looks no older than 18.

I don't think it's necessary... Just like Valentine's Day or Father's Day, it's just an excuse to get people to spend money on things that wouldn't matter anyway.

I don't need one day out of an entire year to show people that I care about them. I do that every chance I get so these holidays are pretty pointless to me.

It is a commercial holiday, that's for sure. But I see nothing wrong with it. It's a celebration of motherhood. No one's forcing you to buy things; you can celebrate however the heck you want to. Make of it what you will.

People say holidays like Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, even Thanksgiving are pointless because you should practice those things every day. This is true. But every holiday embodies something that we should practice every day. Their purpose is to remind us to practice those things, not be the only day out of the year when we do so. In that way, I think they are great.

I get my mother little trinkets for Mother's Day, like a piece of jewelry or a decorative item. She likes those things. My father and brother get her flowers, which she also likes. We also get her a nice card.

My father also tends to get me something like chocolates, and my mother is particularly nice to me. I don't know if it's just because I am female, or if it is because they are trying to convince me of something. Leaning towards the latter.

I always find Mother's day an awkward holiday for me. I grew up in an abusive environment and while my mom wasn't the instigator of most of it, she did play a role in the abuse. I do care about my mother, but I can't bring myself to tell her that, "Hey, you were a great mom", or really celebrate her role in raising me.

So, I usually end up finding the most generic Mother's day card I can, one that pretty much says Happy Mother's day and nothing else and sending her that. I'll send her a nice present on her birthday and Christmas, but I can't bring myself to celebrate her role as my mom.

I don't know how to hand-knit a scarf...sadly. I will like to learn how to sew, knit, embroidery, and crochet things just for the hell of it. If I did know how then I would use the $50 gift card for some material.

I CAN KNIT MY MOMMY A SWEATER!!!

Um, not to ruin your excitement

But the scarf is the easiest thing to knit. Sweaters are... for advanced knitters xD haha. [Yeah, I used to knit xD]

It is a little complicated. But watch some people do it on Youtube. You have to keep trying.

Especially getting that first loop right... rofl it took me ages... to get that first knot thing on the needle... important thing is you have to be patient
