Do you or your household use it? and how do you use it.

you see it in sitcom where, if you forget to do your chore, or when you curse you drop a dollar in and in the end it is used to pay for a vacation or donate to a charity.

others use it to teach themselves something, being polite, eating better, doing chore, or even to learn a new skill.

some people use it, to manage their money better.

or simply deposit a timely amount of money to save up for something.

I don't use cash so I do not use any kind of jar or container for money.

I have a virtual-cash box, with different parts sectioned out for bills/food/entertainment/things to save for/...etc. etc.

It is extremely useful to me, and it is good to see where your money goes in such an organized fashion. Really shows the difference between getting "what you need" and having "what you want".

I have a large beer bottle shaped bank that reads "HUGE ASS BEER"... I just put in what I didn't spend from my last income to act as a buffer for fluctuations in my budget. I recalculate my spending cap every 6 months to be 90% of my average income for that time span. The buffer covers for below average pay. This system allows me to always be able to cover the costs of recurring expenses.

I drop any loose change I have in a cup on my desk. Always have. Got it from my dad; he has huge old bottles full of pennies and nickels and dimes. Never cashes them in. I cash in mine when it gets full.

Once I start working, I'll split my paychecks into categories for savings, everyday expenses, bills, ect. I like being organized and on top of important stuff like finances. Right now, I just have "my money," which I typically get from family members who are sympathetic to the poor life of a college student and which I usually spend on stuff I want, and my parents' money, which they give me weekly for food and other needs. I do make sure to keep the money my parents' give me separate from my other money so I don't starve.

I've never used one of these jars, but I'm pretty sure if my family kept one, I would just leech off it slowly, so it's definitely not for the best in my case.

My parents kept money jar for coins, but I've never put any money into it. I always end up throwing the coins into the tip jar.

I should've saved more of them though, because they cashed out pretty good last year.
