What did/will you do on your 21st Birthday?
Posted 5/9/14
Had one great big surprise party for my 21st. I'm not one for parties but I had a really good time. Or at least I was told that I had a good time (I got pretty drunk).

On or around my 21 birthday I celebrated with some friends and family. On the actual day of my birthday, since I could now legally buy alcohol, I went to the liquor store, bought a six pack of beer, went home, and...had one or two of them. I drank responsibly that day. I drink responsibly and have hardly ever gotten drunk in my life. I have only gotten drunk maybe two or three times in my life, and ironically, they all occurred before I was 21 (mischief with friends). Also, I've never been so drunk that I've done something very stupid and regretful, nor been so drunk that I don't remember things.

for me i was 18 for almost 3 years. i had liquor before i was 21. but i didn't drink. i sampled wines for cooking competitions and such. i had no liquor within a 5 month span of my 21 first birthday. i have spent alot of 21 first birthday nursing people because they had a slow tolerance and kept drinking.

honestly, i don't even feel like i have an age now. i am just old.

All I know is I was at Mardi Gras. Though I don't remember much from that long ago.

You are not old. 22 is pretty young. But I can relate. I'm 30 now, and I kind of feel I'm relatively old. However, people years older than me will assure me that 30 is actually rather young. People get legitimately old at some point, but 30 isn't it, and 22 certainly isn't it.

When I turn 21, I won't drink or do anything fancy. I will probably get punished by karma for even looking at someone funny.

yea i know when i actually remember my age. but at a certain age you just feel old. once you hit a mile stone you feel older, but at the same time you feel as if the previous years you called old was insignificant compared to now.

i mean, you can't tell an 18 year old who is balding that he is fine and he is young, because there is no chance he would believe that.

he has plenty of years to fail at other things and to accumulate it. and reach new points of oldness, when he reaches his midlife crisis. he won't care that he is old anymore. just that he is running out of time, there so many things that he can still do before it is too late.

sorry for the pessimistic view and dark humor with a kick of philosophy if it bums you out.

Ha. While I'm a pretty positive guy...well, it is a good thing I am a pretty positive guy. Because somewhere in between 22 and 30 I was met with something pretty common to people, referred to as "the disappointments of life". But yeah, when I was 22, I thought the following years would go smoother and there'd be less snags and less dissatisfaction.

I don't remember.

Not an "I went on a drinking binge and can't remember" kind, but "I just don't remember the specifics" kind of thing. My memory is infamously spotty for such things after more than a few days or weeks. As opposed to, say, when I read or watch or play something; I might not recall the dialog well enough to quote it or stage well enough to impressively avoid hazards, but I will remember the general gist of it, and in the case of the latter, realize I am about to take a hit/fall into a pit/fail in some manner before it happens, but not be skilled enough to do anything about it even if there is still time to avoid it. XD

I was at work so I had my "first" beer at my birthday dinner. I went to visit my buddies in college for my actual celebration. Community college kinda sucks for socializing with new peeps.
