What are your thoughts on alcohol safety and why?

It damages the liver as we all know and this can be fatal to the mitrochondria as most biologist will know. What concerns me morethough is the pH of the stomach is distrupted by this, and the fact it increases the risk of allergies and many other factors which we can go into if you want.
Do you believe the studies that its benefical for you if so why?

You know I recently saw reports that resveratrol from chocolate and wine have no significant health effects. Makes no difference to me, I only sometimes have sake with sushi.

According to this PubMed study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15166654.

"Moderate alcohol consumption increased plasma DHEAS level by 16.5% (95% confidence interval, 8.0-24.9), with similar changes for men and women. Plasma testosterone level decreased in men by 6.8% (95% confidence interval, -1.0- -12.5), but no effect was found in women."

Well, it still does affects the male's testosterone production (which should be alarming to men). I don't really enjoy consuming alchol for this and a lot of other reasons but I see no problem if you don't abuse it, lol.
