What kind of bag to carry your stuff at a convention
Posted 5/9/14
This is going to be my first time going to and anime convention.

Its funny though because in January of 2014 I was looking into conventions a lot, and telling myself that thats something I would love to go and do in my lifetime. Well, I found out Anime Expo is in Los Angeles which is an hour away from where I live, plus an extra hour to walk to the convention center from the LA Union Station.

But anyway, I just wanted to know what kind of bag do you guys take when you go to conventions. I have a baseball style bag and was wondering is that a perfect size for holding my stuff such as water, snacks, and other stuff I might buy at the Expo or is it to big?

Bring a cute lil' loli and use her as a pack mule. I hear they can hold three times their own weight.

Well the bag I have now is not heavy, its really light just with a lot of room for storage.

It depends on the loli. Each loli is different.

usually when I go to AX, I bring a school backpack with me and its enough to hold a decent amount of food and some water bottles. I don't bring too much food with me so for me bringing a school backpack is convenient for me. Since it does get very crowded and hard to move around at AX at times, I wouldn't recommend bringing a baseball style bag to AX.

Well, of course you compensate her. You provide apple juice to her all throughout the day or days you use her as a pack mule. You also treat her to a happy meal later on, and when she is hungry during the day, you provide her with snacks, like ring dings, ho-hos, and pepperidge farm goldfish. You do this for her, she love you long time.

Bring something light like a sling-bag, unless you're going to buy a ton of stuff then a duffel bag or school bag

Bring a poster tube too in case they're giving out some or you find one that catches your eye for sale. Japanese posters are usually no wider then 22 inches so you can cut the tube down to save space.

I bring my "Noblesse Oblige" slingbag that I bought at a previous convention.

I think you want something that isn't giant and something that can be physically attached to your body with a strap. I don't like bookbags because I'm always paranoid someone would open up the pockets and I wouldn't be able to see them. This is why a slingbag is perfect because I can keep it close to me and in the front/side.

EDIT: Also, in my personal opinion it is much easier to designate a time slot to SPECIFICALLY go and buy things from vendors. If you do that, then you can make a trip back to your car and put your things in your trunk (if you drove). Then you don't have to worry about carrying them or lugging them around. That's pretty much what I always do. Then I only have my personal belongings, food and maybe a small item or two I bought on a whim.

I bring whatever bag that'll look good with my costume....
But I usually just end up using the pockets on my costumes...

I know my friend who always brings a tote though...and we end up stuffing everything in his bag...therefore he is Bag Boy.
