Since we have clearly made the decision to defy the basic system of evolution in favor of life for everyone, we need all we can get to fix the problems we perpetuate. Of course, it's not only beneficial in that sense, so I'd support it either way.

As for using embryos, I don't see the problem. p1491625 had it right in saying they don't have any feeling at all.

Can't see anything bad about it.
Unless someone desperately wanna bury those embryos so they don't burn in hell or something...
So unless your a religious fanatic, there should be no problem.

The fact that embryos will be destroyed even if they're not used for research means it's efficient to use them for stem cells.
Unfortunately using embryonic stem cells allows the potential for human cloning which, as you know will worry the hell out of the religious nuts and the morality/ethical peeps (although i'm not too keen on human cloning myself)
If all else fails, we can just continue researching adult stem cells..... stupid compromises!

I had to write a speech on this, where I was pro choice ^^" maybe it'll help some. I kind of like the idea.

Stem cell speech for Global Studies

The average scientist wants to play God. Their dream is to learn so much about human life that they'll be able to create a new being. This could possibly be a minor reason why so many people are against them trying to create stem cells, but just because scientists will be the ones to create stem cells doesn't make using stem cells a bad thing. Stem cells could start a new biological revolution.

Stem cells should be permitted because they can reduce the amount of people that undergo euthanasia, they can help cure STDs, and they may just be biblically acceptable.

Many arguments have been made over the discussion of euthanasia, and the main question is, "Is it murder or is it helping?" No matter what you call it, euthanasia is pulling the plug and causing death to a person to stop the suffering they get from severe diseases. Pulling the plug is probably one of the most horrific experiences you may ever have to face. And if stem cells were permitted, maybe less people would have to witness and/or experience this. Stem cells can cure many diseases that have most recently brought on euthanasia such as cancer and even AIDS. Dr. Simon Smith believes that stem cells from any embryos could soon provide treatments for diseases ranging from diabetes to Parkinson's disease, which leads me to my next point.

Another reason so many people are against using stem cells is because stem cells are taken from aborted fetuses and embryos. The fetuses and embryos are going to die anyway because of the mother's choice to abort them. And everyday people donate organs to people in need. If the fetus was not aborted, it could have eventually been an organ or blood donor. It's highly probable that at least 5 out of 50 aborted fetuses would have turned out to be organ/blood donors.

Lastly, we assume that our religion is best. Outside of the religion that is Christianity, there are several other religions that disagree with us entirely. Catholics agree that fetuses and embryos shouldn't be used like this and that they're human beings, though in actuality, a human is not a human until they are fully developed as one. Jews believe that fetuses aren't humans until they are outside of the womb. Muslims sort of agree: Islamic law does not define an embryo or specify when a fetus becomes a moral-legal being. And while some Protestant faiths agree with us Christians and Catholics, others think stem cell research should continue because of the benefit to humanity.

Using stem cells does not have to be a bad thing. As Americans, maybe we should consider being more open to opportunities that might just be able to help us greatly. And then maybe someday we'll be able to offer these services to people in need all over the world. All of this could possibly happen if we only give it a chance.

Thank you.

don't see the problem with stem cell research. The cells are from aborted embryos anyways so their just going to waste. As long as we don't try to create some super clone or anything that can comeback and bite us

I take a neutral stand when it comes to Stem-Cell research and use. I'm neither for it or against it. Although I don't find anything wrong in using a fetus that has already expired. It's dead, thus it is not murder. The pros of stem-cell use outweigh the cons, it's just up to those moralists to accept the reality of it.

Umm... Mutants exists anyway... It is called evolution. ;P

I don't really know much about embryotic stem cell research, but what I do know doesn't make me against it.
