Space Battleship Yamato (technically the '70's but it's had many continuations)

So you haven't heard of Space Battleship Yamato 2199?

No one has mentioned Angel's Egg by Mamoru Oshii yet, so I will. Although it's a movie not a TV series.

It'd be nice if it got a rerelease so it could properly melt another generation of too-inquisitive brains.

And now I'm imagining how gorgeous this movie would be on Blu-Ray. Someone should Kickstart this.

I don't think it'd garter enough attention. I was reminded of Mardock Scramble when I read the plot (no desire to see it, though I still do research mind you). Then again, that was probably because of the eggs. In the novel, the author goes overboard with the egg metaphors, similes, allusions, references that well -- it's a little hard to swallow at times. As for the movies -- they should have just combined them all into one or added more content that was in the novel. Manga was alright; fast-paced.

Anyway, I'm rambling. As for my favorite... don't have one. One that I'd like remade is definitely Battle Angel Alita. Though, with the way the anime trends are going now and have been for a few years, it's unlikely.

I sure do, there's no expiration date on good entertainment. As for my favourite, the one that comes to mind right off the bat is Great Teacher Onizuka. It did sneak into the year 2000 but it started in 99 so I'm counting it. As far as remakes go? I'd say Trigun, because that was also awesome. I also think it would fair pretty well by modern standards. With some updated animation it could kick arse; the movie was pretty ace.

Had to reread that a couple times, but I think I follow you.

I'm not sure about thematics but in terms of content they're really nothing at all alike.

Oh this is a good one to get the list going.

Agent Aika - A little bit of panties doesn't hurt.
All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku - Add the OVA (Flash) and this is classics stuff
Amazing Nurse Nanako - torpedo boobs!
Bubblegum Crisis OVA
Crest of the Stars
Dirty Pair & Dirty Pair Flash! - It's all in the hair!
Dragon Half - Best stupid comedy before Excel Saga
Excel Saga
Golden Boy - We all wish we were him
Hyper Police - Cats and more cats
Kekko Kamen - Oh how the mighty.....don't wear clothes!
Patlabor The Mobile Police OVA
Sakura Diaries
Silent Mobius - Including the TV and both movies. My personal favorite anime of all time
Slayers, Slayers Next, Slayers Try - Lina Inverse will destroy all with the Dragu Slave
To Heart - nothing exciting but very calming show
You're Under Arrest - went onto the 2000's with second season and moves but it is still a great series.
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The Vision of Escaflowne
Oh My Goddess! OVA - Original anime version.
Zillion - Such and 80's show

That's just a short list of some of the 80s & 90s shows/series I watched and enjoyed. There were other but I don't want to get a too large of a list.

Basically, what I was saying was that the inclusion of eggs into the story reminded me of Mardock Scramble (which is a novel turned manga and film adaptation; all three of which I've read/watched).

Yu Yu Hakusho, DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell...there's several more, but I can easily say that I'm still totally interested in the older Anime.

How about Devil Hunter Yohko. It came out in 1990 but it's pure 80s style anime.
