From the 80s, there's the yuri classic Onii-sama E ("Dear Brother"), but remaking it would be silly, the time capsule effect is part of the point. And anyway, it just this year got released by crowdfunding at AnimeSols, and Space Battleship Yamato (which is already getting a remake), and Akira

From the 90s there's a boatload of SF, including Cowboy Bebop, the original Ghost in the Shell Movie, and Neon Genesis, of course, but also Outlaw Star and Serial Experiments Lain, and lots more, especially movies and OVAs.

Since the rest of your list appeared to be about 80's and 90's anime you would like to see remade (I'll give you a pass on Yamato actually being a 70's anime), as per the OP's initial message, it seemed odd to include one that had been.

I recently finished watching Aura Battler Dunbine. Highly recommended. I also like Dragon Ball, & Ghost in the Shell. Currently I'm watching Boogiepop Phantom, not sure if I like it or not yet though... I've heard Zeta Gundam is good, so I'm thinking of watching that, but do I need to watch the original Gundam first?

Some really bad or awesome old-school stuff to me are G Gundam, Nadesico, Space Captain Harlock, Kinnikuman, Tekkaman Blade, some Yusha stuff, Flame of Recca, Time Travel Tondekeman, Trigun, some Virtua Fighter anime, Gunsmith Cats, Hokuto no Ken, Outlaw Star, early One Piece, Power Stone, Shadow Skill, early Hunter x Hunter, Record of Lodoss War, Ninku, Infinite Rivius, Weiss Kruz and even Yu Yu Hakusho. I can hardly resist cel animation.

Dragon Ball is always a favorite but growing up and wanting more got to be Detective Conan and Doreamon (one that will always remind me of my childhood).

Pokemon, DBZ and Sailor Moon is on almost everybody's 90s anime list. That aside, here were my favorites:

Fatal Fury - based off of the fighting game.

Street Fighter: The Animated Movie

Robotech - Yes, I know it's a bastardation of Macross and other series, but this helped me discover Mobile Suit Gundam and other great shows.

Ranma 1/2

And of course, the coolest anime of all time:

Other honorary mentions without loading too many pictures: Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, Gundam Wing.

Dear Brother...Good lord, I liked that show far more than I thought I would. Melodramatic, but very interesting. An absolute classic. Plus it has one of my favorite openings.

I have started watching the older anime, for one thing it was more creative, dealt with diverse subjects and I think sometimes it looks better.

Right now I am watching Tsurikichi Sanpei, really interesting anime. Takes a bit of getting use to the look..but the story keeps me watching. And for some reason Sanpei reminds me of Luffy...maybe its the straw hat.

But I also have been watching a lot of anime from the early 2000's. It seems anime was more "mature" back then.
