More anime series that were not originally manga.
I would love some type of borderline between originality and cliche in anime.

Considering…. that this…. is a japanese medium……

Seriously though, do you see many Asians in American series? No? It's because it's catered for the most part to people from that country. Considering most of these writers are Japanese and they sell anime items to the japanese people first and foremost it'd be less risk if they'd used japan as a setting.

Eh...you could have phrased this better, but you have a point. Japan as a default setting is unsurprising and rational considering that's what's most familiar to the intended viewing audience. Pursuing that familiarity isn't bad or erroneous, a creator and writer is supposed to keep the audience's interests in mind.

However, anime which are not set in Japan can and have been successful, and it couldn't hurt to have more of them. Fullmetal Alchemist is set in a fictional reconstruction of Germany, several of Studio Ghibli's films are either set in a European hodgepodge (as in Kiki's Delivery Service) or existing European settings (in the case of Porco Rosso, 1930s Italy), and Spice and Wolf takes place in what appears to be either Germany or Denmark. Anime with foreign settings can work, and I honestly would like to see more of them.

Edit: Actually, an image search shows the setting in Spice and Wolf to be a tad hilly for Denmark. Norway seems to fit better.

Also, in case you didn't know already, a lot of foreigners have a negative outlook on Americans.

Someone's been to Roppongi recently.

Yes very much so, I do like some of the stuff that does come from Asia but anime that has more of a american style such as Halo, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, Animatrix. Cowboy bebop. I think also the more serious the story line the better it is. I just cant get into Naturo, Bleach or simliar style shows.

The elimination of loli's (by my definition) would make anime a much better place for me anyways. From there take the gratuitous fan service and replace it with personality for female characters and wow I just wiped out the whole industry.

I'd restrict anime titles to 4 words or less, and forbid changing the title of an anime based on a novel or manga.

well, I know by your definition of loli, they are sexualized. that's not necessarily what I'm looking for. I just enjoy watching them be cute.
