Blazblue, a technical fighter from Arc System Works. Combining traditional 2D fighter mechanics similar to their Guilty Gear series with a detailed Anime art style, i hope I've sold you on why you should buy, play, and talk about Blazblue.

I've only recently jumped into the Blazblue world, and my is it fun. A set of absurdly generic looking anime guys and gals with their own generic voices, weapons, and personalities.

But the combat! Those mechanics! I actually feel like I'm the generic anime guy kicking ass with my oversized sword!

Onto the game itself, I'm not too good yet, but I'm focusing on maining Shishigami Bang and having a blast learning the furinkazan.

But...I'm horrible right now.

Also, story mode is totally a Visual Novel, and that is bonkers.

Any other Blazblue fans up to talk about it?

Played the PSP versions of the first two games. It's honestly the only 2D fighter I can play properly.

I played Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift and enjoyed them in as far as story and characters are concerned. Gameplay, while really good, I just can't enjoy fully as the learning curve is quite steep. I suppose I'm the kind of guy who has to be able to do all the cool stuff in a game in order to enjoy it lol.

They picked up the story so randomly, a lesser fan would be lost.

Abd holy shit that learning curve is steep! The turorial mode featured is easily the second best ive ever played(Soul Calibur 3 holds the title) what with the voices and complicated descriptions.

By my god, i usually improve by ramping up the difficulty to hell
, but those online players are at least 25% better.

Well the game has a really developed system, greats story while story is confusing to begin with has great character building as well as each one feels different not just personality wise but game as well. (No MK clones here!)

Combine that with a easy to learn but hard to master gameplay, brilliant visuals (Take a look at Calamity Triggers main menu as an example) and excellent soundtrack done Daisuke Ishiwatari the guy who brought us Guilty Gear BB's older rougher brother the series really is a gem to behold. An easy recommend to those who want a complete and elegant package of a fighting game, it's a shame that Mori has stated BB will only be getting one more game so I'm a bit gutted ti hear that.

I decided to pick up Chronophantasma, even though the last version I played was Calamity Trigger. It's a whole different ballpark now, with characters I used to play having a bunch of changes.

For example: Bang got beaten with the nerf stick, and I can't mash C with Jin.

It's fun though. Currently messing around with Ragna, Arakune and will probably try out Kagura once I unlock him.

The 1.1 patch needed to happen ONLY because at event top8s it was either play the koko mirror or die to her. Plus it brought some interesting some tweaks with the casts.

Terumi isn't such a big player like Jin for example, you need to work a lot harder and make better reads to earn the win. (This is coming form the preset you have a good grasp of the games fundamentals.)

I didnt, but I know how to build them. Ive just barely gotten to the respectable effort point. A few more weeks and I'll show up those damned online bastards!

Yea, Terumi is still damn annoying, but he is far easier to deal with after you know hpw he works... and how to block.

I've completed story mode, and what an explosively odd end. The entire arc with Tsubaki was well done, along with the entire 6 Heroes bit. But damn did the stories mix poorly at times, everything regarding Platinum was poorly explained, and Carl, Amane, Bullet, and Taokaka COMPLETELY dropping off only to get randomly picked up(sometimes) for the climax.
Azrael had one hell of a showing however. Now im not the smartest Japanese knower, but it doesnt sound like his nickname is "mad dog" in Japanese, but it does sound close to Houken, a character in the anime Kingdom whose name translated to "War God", the two characters are also similar in always wanting to fight, being absurdly strong, always seeking challenge, and being feared. That Kagura unlock tho...

So yea, I'm still playing the game, trying to get good at Bang.

KEEP GRINDING DUDE, YOU GOT THIS.

Yeah well the story is good but not easy on the whole wtf moments randomly showing up to create more plot holes but I digress.

If your looking to play Bang I recommend looking for footage of a player called Dora, that man is GODLIKE.

I wouldn't say it's necessary for ONLY tournaments. Even at intermediate level I don't want to deal with Brokonoe. People who aren't top level players don't have the skill to even approach this matchup.

Why is she perfect in pretty much every aspect. Huge damage, excellent mixup and pressure, neutral that allows her to get in for almost free, reversal super that stays out forever if she places a graviton + she can do invisible mixups from it, excellect oki, resets, favorable matchups against most of the cast and an unblockable loop. She had pretty much no faults, yet you couldn't even call her a "jack of all trades" character because that would be insulting for her.

People dont understand the power of kit opness, an overpowered drive and specials can easily make someobe too powerful.

Difficulty is no barrier! Players will always find a way to do something.

Kokonoes kit is still strong, so well still see her around.

Picked it up the week after EVO because the finals for it were really hype and it dropped in price. it's a hell of a lot of fun. I'd be down to play/train with anyone who wants to (since I kinda suck super hard.)

Chronophantasma is my favourite game ever. The mechanics make it a blast to play and the cool characters and soundtrack make it even better. I have no idea what happens in the story though since I bought the Japanese version and I can't read Japanese. I do think that the old way of story telling was way better though. It introduced the characters way better than now and it also served as "first taste" of what each character plays like.

I have been playing as Hakumen and Yuuki Terumi ever since I got the game. I would love to play as Rachel since she is my favourite character in a video game (sorry Hazama!) but she is way too hard for me to use. Her combos seem to require way too much for me to pull off just as a muscle memory. That's why I use Hakumen and Yuuki since both of them have somewhat easy combos, which are satisfying to do and they can still deal decent amount of damage.

And since I like to use Yuuki, I can't for the 2.0 update, especially because he gets a new theme.
