I'm a HUGE Godzilla fan as well as other kaiju films of the past. So for the upcoming Godzilla film (which I hoping won't suck! it better not!) I started a stupid topic (sorry but i really curious about this) should there be or rather would you watch a Godzilla anime? It would feature all of the kaiju of not just G-universe but Toho films! (cover from IDWs current Godzilla series. pick it up!)

I'd watch it.

About the movie: Did you like Pacific Rim? Yes? Then you'll like the Godzilla movie too.

The new movie trailer certainly looked better than the trash that was the last movie back in 1998. As for an anime I don't see why not but I'm personally not a big enough fan of Godzilla to care about it either way.

also We may hate the 1999 movie but the cartoon was alright

if they could do the same for the new 2014 movie that would be great doesn't even have to come from Japan just long as the respect the lore of Godzilla

I think a Godzilla anime would be fantastic for the franchise. However, Toho is so strict with their licensing, and it can get very expensive per monster, that it really is not a viable option to be undertaken. I believe that there are a few other issues preventing a Godzilla anime, but I don't clearly remember the details. This was told to me from other sources, I just need to check again if I remember. XD

Initial reviews of the movie have been good so far. about the most negative thing I've read was that Godzilla look too fat.

seen a couple of different cartoons over my life, both going with the concept of Godzilla as a tamed pet to be summoned against other big nasties.

If they did an anime I would hope for something like the old Manga I used to have, Godzilla as a force of nature that just happens to save humanity from something worse. Not deliberately, just sort of as a side effect of kicking the crap out of whatever invaded his territory.

Yeah, I would watch it.

I feel like a badass series would be the rise of Godzilla and we follow a young military man. And the story of how they take him down. Something along those lines. Lots of effects, feels and explosions/action.

Hahahaha. Taking down Godzilla. The charm of Godzilla is that he DOESN'T get taken down. He has only ever died twice. One with a Super Weapon on par with a Nuke in the original film, and than in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah where he melted down from his own power going crazy. You don't just take down Godzilla. best you can do is maybe stop him for a little while. He will always come back. XD

Of course, the above is the main reason the 1998 turd of a movie (referred to as GINO by the Godzilla fan-base like myself) is so god awful. Since they totally missed EVERYTHING that made Godzilla Godzilla at all...

I would pass on a Godzilla anime.

I'm tired of Godzilla. I'm tired of Batman, Superman, Godzilla, Star Trek, Star Wars, The Hulk, Spiderman... let's just move on and come up with new monsters and heroes.

Not critical of your idea... I think I have reboot burnout.

There was a Fox tv cartoon done after the American Godzilla movie.. not sure if it quite coudn't but it was very good. Lots of Kaiju and an alien invasion! I
Worth checking out! I'm surprised no one has done a DVD re-release of it.
