Reports are coming in that Microsoft is going to sell the Xbox One without Kinect.

Amazon even has it for pre-order already: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Console-Standard-without-Kinect/dp/B00KAI3KW2/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1399994896&sr=1-4&keywords=xbox+one+standard+edition+without+kinect

I don't have either the PS4 or Xbox One at this point and I don't intend to buy either soon. Although the PS4 is still going to be my first option, I'm not gonna lie --- I will at least be open to getting an Xbox One if there are exclusives on it that interest me now that I won't have to pay for something I won't ever use (i.e., Kinect).

Also, while on the subject of 180 degree turns and trimming the fat, it appears that Microsoft will no longer restrict access to streaming apps behind the XBL Gold paywall: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/05/13/microsoft-may-end-gold-membership-requirement-for-streaming-apps

I have a PS4 and I'll buy an Xbox One, sometime down the line. Yes, I'll probably buy the one without the Kinect.

I'll be able to watch Crunchyroll on my Xbox now, hopefully. Can't wait.

Microsoft is definitely pulling out all the stops when it comes to fighting back. Games with Gold will have Dark Souls and Ultra Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition next month. Tempting, I must say.

Microsoft is just nipping it at the bud, so to speak, so I wouldn't necessarily call it "fighting back". I'd say the more appropriate thing to say is that they've realized (the hard way) that there were a whole lot of consumers who did not agree with their vision. As it stands now, with no "Titanfall", Sony has at least a 3 million unit lead over them (Microsoft's sales numbers only specify units shipped versus actual units sold) so if they chose to continue with keeping Kinect with the Xbox One at the $499 price point Sony's lead would most likely just balloon over the next few months.

As for the Games with Gold, Ultra Street Fighter IV is going to a be a new release come June and I doubt Microsoft will have a new release free right away so perhaps you're thinking Super Street Fighter IV AE?

It must be Super then.

Whatever you want to call it MS isn't laying down and taking the beating quietly from what I can see. I also see the beating continuing without pause. PlayStation's roll has been ongoing for the last year and will only increase when Japanese devs finally get into gear.

Removing kinect is one of the best things they could of done. I dont care much for Xbox gaming library but this move and maybe a future price drop or if they expand their library makes it much more easier to buy.
