It seems that with a resent release, the Xbox One will no longer require Gold membership to access Netflix and the like and they will finally be matching Sony by having free games with your Gold membership monthly.

Full Details :

At Xbox, we’re committed to continually improving the Xbox experience based on your feedback. Today we’re announcing two changes that you have asked for.

In June, we’re making Xbox Live Gold even better. Games with Gold will be coming to Xbox One, so a single Gold membership will get you free games on both Xbox One and Xbox 360. Plus, we’re introducing Deals with Gold for Xbox One which gives members exclusive discounts on games and content in the Xbox Store. With the most advanced multiplayer, Games with Gold, and Deals with Gold, Xbox Live Gold is better than ever.

Also, coming in June, all Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners will get access to popular entertainment apps, like Netflix, YouTube, Machinima, and more on Xbox without needing an Xbox Live Gold membership*. This means that everyone can enjoy the amazing gaming, TV and entertainment experiences that Xbox has to offer, right out of the box.

So I know what most people are thinking, "About time for this" but for those of you without an Xbox One, will this and the announcement of a Kinect-less version have you reconsider buying an Xbone?

Just been waiting for my of my friends to make the switch. I'll probably buy the one without the kinect since I don't have a lot of space. Ehh... idk about how good their free games are gonna be. They have been doing it for xbox 360 for a little while now. The free games have been pretty crappy except for maybe 2 or 3 of them. The free games sony gives are a lot better.

I agree that the ones the 360 have given so far have been either crappy or old enough that anyone who wanted it would have already bought it, but I think with what is currently a small selection of game on Xbox One that they will have to give the good ones or just insult people with what they choose.

This true, i really hope they don't mess this up lol. They have been disappointing a lot of people this past year.

Although most of the games have been crap, I found some pretty enjoyable ones on Games with Gold. The current one, Dust: An Elysian Tail is actually pretty sweet. I'm on my second playthrough of it.

I don't know. Killer Instinct is the only Xbone game that interests me. Not sure if it's really worth buying a console for just one game.

If I didn't have either the PS4 nor the Xbox One, I'd still lean over to Sony's side. Probably because I spent at least 100x more money on the PSN store lol.
EDF3 Portable's free right now, and I love it, which makes me wonder if the free games on Xbox One are gonna be good...I mean, I really only got it for Titanfall, and I'm thinking of giving it to my neighbor's son lol.

Plus, there's no crunchyroll app on Xbox One =\

The reason I haven't purchased and XBone is for the sole fact that all of the games they have released have no appeal to me.

Halo is the tipping scale for me. But based on how Microsoft seems to be pushing the Halo series we may not see something appealing but just more rehashes ("anniversaries") in the near future. And this isn't taking into account the TV shows in production because we don't need an XBone to access those (right?).

Don't get me wrong, the PS4 isn't exactly golden yet. But I'm personally tipped towards it this generation. That and PC gaming.

I won't buy XBone anytime soon. I have PS1 PS2 PS3 PS4 Xbox360 3DS.. and a full time job that steals away 45-55 hours a week from playing any of them..

I feel like business wise selling a kinectless xbox will be a smart move, but since many games contain features that use the Kinect it would be like paying for a trial or incomplete system.

It's pretty cool they took down part of the paywall, though. I am pretty excited for the X1's Games for Gold, mostly because I made the horrible choice of Battlefield 4 and Premium in console.

Now all they need is Crunchyroll and to reinstate the party system in Netflix. (And possibly a few more reasonably priced games.)

I'll get an Xbox One for sure as long they deliver the "games" that Phil Spencer keeps mentioning. I already had planned to get both PS4 and XB1 this year anyway

The only thing they listen is their own wallet:
1) Xbox Live Memberships dropped in the last few months.
2) Sales of the Xbone are lower than expected. PS4 sold almost twice as much in the same time period. Microsoft tried to play with semantics using the words "units shipped" instead of "units sold". Nice try but this is not 1984 people know about these kind of tricks now.
3) Two important Xbox executives "left".
4) Indie support has dropped compared with 360 and moved to Steam or PSN.
5) Their exclusive titles, 1st or 3rd party are pretty dry in the near future.

Before you accuse me of being a Sony, Nintendo or Atari fanboy (LOL) let me tell you that I do have a 360 and I'm happy with it. I'm a hardcore gamer and I might get an Xbone one day but right now, there is nothing there that justifies paying 400 or 500 bucks for a nice hardware. In the last 2 years Microsoft made one bad decision after another one putting themselves in trouble by ignoring one big important fact. There is a reason why the called "casual market". It is "casual", they got interesting on Kinect and in a few months they will move to the next shinny toy. Never turn your back to your loyal costumers.
