I have the worst headache of my life and no access to painkillers until I leave work in an hour.

Any suggestions as to how to take the edge off without any medicine available?

Alternately - tell me funny stories so I don't focus on how miserable I am at my desk at work.

Have you injured/bumped/banged your head recently? If so, it may be an emergency~~~

If not, applying a warm or cold towel/rag onto your head may help. (Depends on what you prefer). You can also alternate between the 2.

When I was little I used to dig a giant hole in the sand at the beach and get in it. My brother would put a towel over me and a piece of food on top. Like within minutes a seagull would land on me and I would scare the living shit out of it.

Hope you feel better!

Firmly massage the acupressure point on each hand where the thumb and index finger bones meet (second metacarpal bone). It's best if somebody does this for you, so both hands can be massaged simultaneously, but if that's not possible, massage one hand for five minutes, then massage the other hand.

Have a cup of strong coffee. Caffeine reduces blood-vessel swelling, and thus can help relieve a headache. This is why caffeine is an ingredient in some extra-strength painkillers like Excedrin. However, if you are already a heavy coffee drinker, skip this. Caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches, creating a vicious cycle

Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause a headache

Almonds can be a natural remedy and a healthier alternative to other medicine. It acts as a pain reliever because it contains something called salicin, which is also an agent in popular over the counter killers. Try eating a handful or two of these wholesome nuts when you feel the ache start to set in.

Holding a pencil between your teeth (holding, not biting or clenching your jaw) can help a tension headache dissipate. The actual physical action of holding the pencil between your teeth activates your “smile” muscles, relaxing your jaw. We often times clench our teeth when stressed and this in turn strains the muscle connecting the jaw to the temples and causes a tension headache. Again, make sure your jaw is relaxed and the pencil is held lightly between your teeth.

Cold compress, such as a bag of frozen peas, a bag of ice, or a cold pack. Hot compress, such as a towel soaked in very warm water.

hope you feel better

Guy walks into a bar with jumper cables. Bartender turns to him and says, "Hey pal... don't start anything in here, okay."

---------------------------
So a blind man walks into a bar..

The blind man sits down, thinking he'd break the ice with the bartender by asking "Wanna hear a blond joke?"

In a hushed voice, a man beside him says "Before you tell that joke, you should know our bartender IS blonde, or bouncer is blond, I'm a 6'4" black belt, the man sitting on the other side of me is 6'2, 250lbs, and a rugby player. The guy sitting next to you is pushing 300, 6'6, and he's a wrestler. We're ALL blond. So you think about it mister, do you really wanna tell that joke?"

The blind man sat for a second, thinking over the odds and then replied "No, not if I have to explain it five times."

Like what someone here said, if you hit your head, seek a doctor, as it could be really serious; maybe even life threatening. You can miss work for it. What if a doctor ends up catching a serious problem before it gets really bad, you know?

I don't have any funny stories I can think of right now. So maybe some of us can tell some jokes.

A baby seal walks into a club. It died a horrible death. :(

What is the difference between a hockey player and Courtney Love? A hockey player changes after three periods.

How many people with ADD does it take to screw in a light bulb? ....Hey, do you wanna go ride bicycles?
