I only ask this since I have been wanting to watch for a long time, but I was intimidated by how many parts there are to the show. Also, would I need to the previous seasons of JoJo here on Crunchyroll for me to understand the show?

P.S. I want to say thanks in advance for responding this forum and for helping me and other new people to the show!

This Beginners' Jojo guide is a bit outdated but it still says it's okay for new fans to start with Part 3 - http://silencedrowns.tumblr.com/post/30509891840/a-beginners-guide-to-jojo-or-why-and-how-to-join-the

Part 3 has some references to Parts 1 and 2 and it has 3 old characters (Dio, Joseph and Suzie Q who has a very minor role), but it's nothing too major because Part 3 has some exposition/flashbacks anyway. Parts 1 and 2 are actually much shorter than Part 3: 5 and 7 volumes long respectively. Part 3 is like 16 Manga volumes long and it looks like Stardust Crusaders will be a long show (Probably longer than 24 episodes). I would still recommend checking out the 2012 show on Crunchyroll here, because it's just plain awesome and it's a very faithful adaptation of Parts 1 and 2.

It's basically okay, but you're totally missing out (In terms of entertainment) if you skip the first 2 parts. The first season is one my all time favorites.

The first season is on Crunchyroll and only 26 episodes. No reason not to watch. Plus, semi-important story bits are from part 1 and 2.

It is a good start, I watched the original OVAs and the only thing I didn't understand was the origin of Dio.

Maybe you should watch Phantom Blood at least, only 9 episodes. You can skip Battle Tendency.

I don't like characters like Joseph.

And Joseph doesn't fight Dio in Battle Tendency so you can skip it.
