Step 1. Discover Philosopher's stone
Step 2. Transmute lead into gold
Step 3. Money

I know it's alchemy but still...

Geology is actually one of the most profitable and satisfying degrees that you can get.

You have many job options, such as working for petroleum companies or working for government agencies such as the U.S.G.S or NOAA.

You can also become a researcher and go into Earth Science and Geophysics.

Also, I recommend a minor or double major in Geography, particularly in the Cartography, GIS, and Remote Sensing arts.
However, the two majors often overlap and you may find geology classes that offer the same material.

Right now, the Oil and Gas industries are looking for geologists, and that career path is booming. Keep in mind in the US a lot of the new Oil and Gas jobs are in the North Dakota area, but still it's a job and a rather interesting one at that. Other paths for a Geology degree deal with Earthquakes and Seismology. In the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' that's a huge concern.

Congrats! I was not smart enough to major in geology, but I took a few courses as electives. I really enjoyed those classes.

You can always become a surveyor for a big oil company or construction projects I suppose.

The following is a hastily written and terrible-sounding song I just wrote due to user chao_mein's suggestion.

Geology, Geology, oh for the life of me I can't stop thinking about Geology
Sure there's other subjects to do, like geometry, genealogy, and physics
But to ignore Geology would be a great catastrophe
So let's listen to this original rock song! ~Guitar solo~

I hear that geology is a rising career,
with success promised in its oil/natural gas fields.
From what I hear,
it's not too difficult compared to some other sciences (like medical science),
though it does require adequate knowledge in data utilization and is mostly based on theories and guesses that are never definite.
Depending on what field you choose, though,
you get to travel a lot to different places.

However,
I also heard that the geology field is a bit unstable,
especially in fossil fuels.
Due to the need for sudden funding, grants, and unpredictable conditions,
an entire group could get fired within 4 months.

-or something like this?
