The app has actually been corrupting my file structure constantly, (which is why it keeps crashing, for those who haven't figured that out yet). It seems to not affect any data other than the stuff it uses, but it does slow the PS3 down considerably when it gets really bad. It would be quite nice if there could be something to be done about it while you guys are working on it, though I realize it's probably not a very simple issue to resolve...

Though if you can you should copy the install file to a USB drive should you lose the app. that way you always have a spare.

the SSL RSA Certs are mismatched? Seriously? That's a pretty easy fix. Just issue new ones and give them to sony, then update the app. Or, use the previous ones that were valid for sony UNTIL you both have the same certs and can co-ordinate the swap! I know you probably issued new ones due to heartbleed, but come on: JUST GO BACK to the old certs so we get our service until the sysadmin for your server is back from the long weekend.

I really hope the issue is not that simple :(

This did, however, co-ordinate with the release of the VITA app. It's possible that the streaming to the vita app required a higher level of encryption, but they use the same servers to stream to both, and therefore, broke the cert on PS3 getting the vita app up.

Here's another way to fix it. Spin up another server image of the previous setup that worked for PS3 authentication, and point the traffic there using DNS. Poof, now you have two servers, one for vita with the new cert and one for ps3 with the old cert. Consider it temporary.

In my line of work this is a critical dedicated service level for your consumers. This is the kind of thing that would pull me out of bed at 2am on a sunday.
