Anyone else playing it right now in alpha? What are your thoughts on it so far? If you aren't are you looking forward to trying it out at all?

Personally I'm pretty impressed with it so far. There is a lot more work to do and sometimes it almost feels like there are too many options but it's pretty nice and I look forward to watching how it develops.

I signed up for the alpha a long time ago but haven't been able to get in yet. I don't feel like dropping $150 though to play in alpha for a free-to-play game. From what I have seen Trion is doing a great job so far. They are very good at interacting with the community and getting their input. Can't wait until I get in!

I bought the 150 bucks pack, the game is super fun, but it feels that it's not as half as entertaining if you don't play with a group of people, but i guess that could be the case for all Sandbox MMORPGs, the 150 pack comes with 90 days of " premium" status, so most of the money you pay for the 150 pack is basically just paying premium status upfront.

Yeah, but I think all MMOs sandbox or not are much more fun with people you know. Some of the people in chat crack me up though and I will be sad when everyone starts getting split up. The $150 was definitely worth it so far since now I kind of have more of an idea of how I want to do things. It's taking a long time just to come up with a class build and combination that I like. I'd hate to have to try and figure it all out when the game goes live and then possibly be behind in claiming land and such.

For sure, i agree with you 100% ... I'm mostly playing the Alpha right now to set things up for launch, so many options for class, location, gear type, crafting that you need to map things out, I'm curious, what's your level, crafting, class skills etc so far ? and also i've been playing since they announced the pack, and what i did was to claim a large farm spot at the starting zone for the Eastern Faction and then i sold it for a lot of materials to build my house, but then i couldn't find a single spot anywhere else in the game, i had to build it on the 3rd continent ( level 50 zone) and basically got screwed up.

I only recently started playing maybe a week ago. Highest so far is just a 27 requiem. That started out as a spellsinger...and might get changed to a monk.....hard to decide that still. I just know I want songcrafting. I don't have much in the way of crafting. I only recently finally got my clipper and made the run to eastern continent for my 16x16 which I have no materials or land for. xD It sounds kind of lame but I really want to own a bigger farmhouse in order to grow and raise stuff while I go off buffing and murdering people. Nui quests have been kind of boring though so I will probably try to convince my friend to go Harani since those quests are a bit more funny and entertaining. I love the combat but I find myself just wandering around uprooting and making funny reports about people to see if any of them end up in court.

Oh okay, you got a clipper at 27 ? that's pretty nice, you must've spent a lot of time gathering materials, and yeah the most efficient and fun way to play the game is to have your farm producing while you go out and about killing/leveling, the Theme Park quests can get VERY repetitive after level 30 and it can get really dull if you don't take a break from questing and kill some people , plus you can level very efficiently with crafting, and yeah i believe they're removing Nui Tears from the game and using only Guilda Stars as currency, also, i'm not sure if you did any " Trade Run" so far, but now Guilda Stars will only be awarded if you do trade runs from one continent to another, i recently got bored at 30 and i just kill people all day and get sent to court, Jail is so fun, you make new friends, you collect spoons to dig a hole on the wall and escape, you play soccer, you do labour work

Once I got ready to collect the stuff for it I got it pretty quick actually. 4 trees constantly on my farm and ore was easy. Fabric was cheap enough to just buy. I also love just kind of sitting around and not doing much from time to time. The game is nice because of those options. I heard that about the Nui tears as well but since I never spent any tears or stars it won't affect me too much. Going across the ocean was not fun at all solo so I wasn't in a hurry to do it again. xD What's your in-game name? Trial chat is one of the most entertaining to listen to at times so I probably watched you go to jail a few times.

Edit: Also what class did you choose? What ones are you wanting to try out?

Oh right, you didn't sell your farm and got screwed over like i did , and yeah i feel you, my first sea run, i went with a row boat, and then i had to bail the row boat and swim halfway there because there were a bunch of pirates around the area, so i basically crossed the sea underwater, it was a god damn struggle but that what makes this game awesome, when you get that first glimpse at the sea is just mesmerizing in my opinion, and i usually don't spam Trial chat, i just argue with the Jury cause they're always snob dicks , i was thinking of racking up 3000 infamy points and see what pirate life is like, but 3000 is a pain to get,

My ingame name is Outerhevan, and i have 2 characters level 30, the first 2 had faulty builds and i had to start over, i first made an AoE only mage which was Sorcery Witchcraft and Occultism, it was awesome at questing cause i'd stack mobs and clear them with an AoE combo, but needless to say it sucked at PvP and i kept getting slaughtered by people 10 levels below me, so i re-rolled into my favorite combination and probably the strongest i seen in PvP so far, i'm currently using Battlerage, Auramancy, Shadowplay, it's a really high DPS stealth class, i basically jump on the target and kill him on the spot, if he survives the combo though, i'm pretty much done, plus the stealth ability in itself is so good, i can't even count how many times i avoided getting killed by level 50 PKs

I couldn't imagine it with a rowboat. I was determined to do it with a clipper and even that took awhile....took even longer when I got lost and landed on the wrong part of the other continent and had to go all the way south....and all the sea slugs I had to shake off. >_> It really is cool though in the end. Trial chat people can go both ways. Sometimes they are annoying and sometimes very entertaining. From what I have seen you need a lot of support from other people to actually be a pirate. I don't think it is something someone can do solo successfully.

I liked the clown/spellsinger combo of sorcery/songcraft/shadowplay but despite knowing how useful stealth would be I just didn't use shadowplay skills enough for me to want to keep it around until it got to higher levels. I literally only used it for the backflip and instant fireballs since I don't care for melee fighting much and the bow skills are all just kind of meh to me. I might have to suck it up and level it for the stealth though...being able to avoid PvP when needed is always a plus. I'll probably end up with many characters and many mistakes even when launch comes around. There are just too many neat combinations to tweak and try out. Your darkrunner is actually what my friend will be playing which is why I have been considering a more support/healer and DoT char to duo with though.

Yeah those sea slug things that jump on your boat are so fucking annoying, Clippers are a lot faster but you draw a lot more attention, while rowboats and swimming, you're very well hidden but you take a lot more time to get there, and yeah, it's definitely a group effort to be a pirate, people say its biggest limitation is the lack of space to build farms and houses, since you're considered hostile by all the faction NPCs, i read that the pirates in the Russian server were doing something really cool, which was, instead of just killing everyone, they would charge anyone that would get in/out the main island 1/3 of their trade packs in exchange they would escort the group to the delivery point safely, this kind of player interaction is amazing in my opinion.

And yeah, only people that were able to defeat me head on 1 vs 1 ( that were around the same level obviously) would be mages that had Songcraft, very powerful stuns and fears and what nots, and i only use shadowplay for the backstep and stealth as well, when i hit 50 i will probably get 1 or 2 more abilities from it but that's it, just the backstep and stealth are so worth it, backstep almost costs no mana, has really low cooldown, really good when you're dying off to mobs, most of the time if you backstep + enter stealth they lose immediate aggro if you're quick, plus you can backstep with a trade pack on your back, when i was on my way to the other continent , a group pulled me with a Battlerage skill into the boat i backstep immediatly, and swam towards the bottom of the sea while on stealth, they pretty much gave up, both abilities are amazing for survival, saves me from many frustrating trips to the respawn point

Looks hella fun, but I seriously doubt it'll make a big dent in the MMO market.

I'll probably try it out when it launches.

I've been wanting to play this game for so long! When I heard about the alpha coming out and not getting invited I was devastated haha
Do you know if they'll be sending out any more invites soon?

Well last I saw alpha is almost over since closed beta will begin in June so I would assume invites will be going out for that now. Maybe you will get lucky with that.

Alpha is also majorly overcrowded, almost 3-4x the amount of people that a normal server will have, so I don't see why they would add anymore for it. Farmland is almost impossible to grab right now so it will probably be a bit better of an experience to start out in beta rather than alpha anyway.
