Common Sense- thinking what's right and simple
- looking at the big picture (less confrontation, seeing what the consequences are)
- using street smarts (learn through life, by being independent)
-more thinking less doing

That's a good start but I think common sense isn't really that simple.

I think it also includes actually listening to other people and their reasoning and not just throwing it out as 'stupid' or 'ignorant' or 'lazy' or 'bigoted.' I mean, most people actually have decent reasoning but most people are so intent on getting their opinions out there they disregard most of someone's reasoning to latch onto one detail and stubbornly cling to their side without bending a little. Every time I discuss, I may not like the reasoning at all but I at least try to see if it makes sense... I mean I want other people to do that for me, so I do it for them, I think that's common sense...

Which also means that the idea of treating others as you want to be treated should be common sense too.

Other ideas:

- Respecting that everyone has a right to their own opinion even if it is 'bad' or 'wrong.'
- Understanding that we're all only human in the end. No, that isn't an excuse. It's a fact, all we can do is TRY to be better than that but don't expect people to be perfect and to always have the 'right' opinions or make the 'right' choices.
- Reading warning labels that usually should be no brainers in the first place.
- Patience, kindness, respect, loyalty, honesty, generosity... love... all those virtues, at least trying to put them into practice.
- Raising kids to think not mimic without giving up things like religion, opinions, and habits (not including the bad ones like gambling and alcohol)...

The sad thing about common sense is that it's not always common.
Often times, it's just sense...

Common sense is determined by the era and culture you live in thus, everyone's common sense will be different. I understand what you are going for but you should narrow your questions focus..

Something that a lot of people don't seem to have. I think to sum it up briefly it would be having a general understanding towards all things free from biased opinion.

There are times common sense means you "just do it."

If there are busted traffic lights on a four way intersection, whoever goes at the end first and stop before the intersection gets the right of way to cross. That's common sense to all drivers.

Everyone has a different degree of common sense or understanding.

For example, lifting heavy stuff as a group gives a lot of variables. Moving furnitures from one apartment to another apartment or home present challenges. It's not always brute strength. Well, you can be brutal and destroy the furniture at the same time. But we don't need that.

Common sense changes from culture to culture and time period to time period.
It is what is most commonly seen as the sensible answer to a question, thus the "common" part of it.

The ability to figure out what is the correct thing to do. I think I lack in common sense, because I lack in the ability to figure out what is the correct course of action.

I personally think common sense is default knowledge by basic instinct or experience that almost everyone goes through.
