Common sense, I think, describes fundamental abilities of knowledge, judgment, and decision-making that don't require specialized education or experience to understand and can reasonably be expected of mostly anyone.

Stuff like:
- Not walking onto a busy freeway.
- Not placing your hand on a stove that you know is hot.
- Not drinking laundry detergent.

etc.

Common sense is acquired through learning from your experiences. After experiencing something painful, your brain learns to associate that situation with danger. For instance, if you burn yourself or see someone burn themselves, your common sense will tell you to avoid touching hot surfaces in the future.

It's a way to look down on people who don't know what you know. Am I wrong?

Common sense is determined by the era and culture you live in thus, everyone's common sense will be different. I understand what you are going for but you should narrow your questions focus..
