An Elders react would be much more interesting, IMO. I never really liked the Teen or Kids react ones.

There are two animes that I actually do consider quite novel as far as plots go. Zegapain and Melody of Oblivion. I can't really say what the plot of Zegapain is without spoiling it, but I definitely have never seen it done before, then again it definitely might have been in some old sci-fi novel. As far as Melody of Oblivion goes now that was a good one, the plot was essentially trying to save a world that does not want to be saved, and that may actually be worse off if you did save it.

So what you're telling me is you enjoyed those plots or?

What I meant by plots being done before was more or less the basic outline. Boy meets girl and falls in love -- and then some. Other elements added on top of that are most likely going to be inspired by something the creator(s) have experienced/etc. in life, so they draw from those things. In that sense, everything has been done before on different scales. If that makes any sense.

It's a bit difficult for me to describe.

Yeah it makes sense.

And yes I did like both of those plots, but what I liked about them was that they really surprised me. For example, with Melody of Oblivion as I was watching it I had no idea that the communities that the main character was 'saving' actually kind of relied on their problems. I suppose as far as life goes this isn't novel either because as technology advances the earth is damaged further. In that sense you could say that by fixing one problem we create another. However, I dunno it's one of the only animes I know that has a neutral ending. It's not a good ending, it's not bad ending, it's not even really a conclusion, however at the same time it is a satisfying ending and pointless to continue the story. That in itself was quite novel, that the end of the show sort of had a message that said the journey must continue, but it's pointless for us to continue watching.

In any case I have never really seen a story handled like that before. The elements in the anime are quite cliche though, it has fanservice, romance, action, etc. But the over all plot is unique.

"The show is about giant humanlike creatures who attack and eat humans but noone knows why... So they barricaded themselves in walls but the titans are back and broke through, so the humans are fighting for their survival." Girl: "Thats so confusing"

If people who who accuse anime of being confusing are all like this, then I see that the medium isn't at fault.

I've just thought about something but wouldn't you get like horrible whip-lash using the 3D movement gear? Like enough to possibly break your neck.

I doubt this is important in a universe where humans can grow over 10 feet tall.

I wonder why Attack On Titan is as popular as it is. Sure, it is a decent anime, but there is better out there.

Suspense, mystery, and action. It has a lot more of those than most animes do.

Monster for example does suspense and mystery much better, but doesn't have enough action for the masses.

What confounds me is SAO's popularity. I really cannot understand why SAO is so popular. I mean Magi, Hunter x Hunter, and Silver Spoon have much thicker plots, and while people admit they are good, they don't get nearly the hype that SAO gets. Attack on Titan is pretty much the only thing that rivals SAO in hype.

Monster is a seinen series, so there always destined to be more underground anime juxtaposed with the shonen mainstream titles
