What's so bad about structure in music? Not that I'd be able to hear the difference most likely.

I liked Nodame Cantabile a lot so this could be good if it's similar (or even if it's not). Can't think of a music centric anime that I haven't enjoyed but then I can't think of too many I've seen either.

I should preface this by saying I haven't read the manga lol. This is just about song structure.

One can view structure as restriction. Like, imagine if every single song had the verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structure. It'd be terrible. In a way, it requires less creativity to compose a song like that. Lots of classical music also has structure, even though I can't remember any good examples >_> The upside of structure is that it keeps songs grounded, and it's more likely that every musical element will flow well with each other. People are also more likely to experiment in an environment in which they feel comfortable.

If your music doesn't have structure, then there's more room for a piece to progress and change into something possibly great. It's more artsy and expressive that way. The downside to a lack of structure is that you might just end up with crappy free form jazz or something lol. More room for expression, but also more room for error and indulgence.

tl;dr Both are good, but too much of any good thing is bad.

Also, seeing as this show isn't a music class, structure probably just means he's boring and by-the-book.

I wasn't really asking seriously but thanks for the answer anyway.

It would be interesting to watch a musically educational anime. I think anime is actually quite good at educating and entertaining at the same time.

I didn't find it there when I looked for it. But the time has come.

Episode 1

Kousei sure has a tough there with her mother dying while he was in Europe for a piano competition and his father is out of town, so all he has is Tsubaki to cling to. And by accident, he happens to snap a photo of Kaori while the wind is blowing, and she is a world-class violinist. Maybe he will recapture his love for the piano someday, but for now he is just someone who has lost his way. That's a nice way to start things off and this figures to be a great show. The funny parts there really made me laugh, especially when Kaori goes all tsundere on Kousei over that photo.
