Ok, if you haven't finished the manga/anime please do not read. I plan on talking about the ending and so forth so there will be spoilers.

Alright, i'll start off my my totally stupid question. Why is everyone calling Light, Raito?! Did I miss a HUGE like section of this anime? I thought he was just Yagami Light, L, and Kira. I see Raito everywhere and I don't know where its coming from. x[

Now you all won't believe me when i say I'm a totally obsessed fan. xD (I didn't know who Raito was!) Lol, but please believe it when i say i'm in love with Death Note.

Simply Genius. There is no other way to put this anime. I am so terribly sad it ended- and btw i loved the ending. It wasn't the absolute best way to end the anime but it was sufficient for me. Ryuk ending it was great. :3 I adore him. I was very close to tears near the end, but since it wasn't an especially sad anime, they just wouldn't flow. But when he was running away wounded, and he saw himself the first day he took the Death Note; priceless. The way he died too ..
I really wish they added an Epilogue of some sort. The only reason I was a bit (only a tad!) disappointed with the ending was that they didn't show what happened after. I really wish they showed what Misa did, how the Kira supporters reacted.

OR if they ended it with a cliffhanger and showed another Shinigami dropped a book onto the Earth, someone else who was conscious that Kira existed [or did exist] picking it up, and them becoming the next Kira to form the 'perfect world'.

AHH! I just finished Death Note today, so I'm on a rant to spread my obsession to others.
So I'm all jittery and excited about it- come and chat with me!

Also, I'd love to talk about the characters, about why people love the characters that they do. Personally I don't understand why people like Mello so much. I can kinda understand why people might like Near, even though I don't.

If you respect my opinion, I'll respect yours. =] I am in no way trying to put down anyone's thoughts, ideas, or opinions. I'm just merely curious.=]

that is really not a big spoiler because I think by now people would have already known what happened.
As for the Raito, Raito is the japanese way of pronouncing Light because as far as I've learned that in japanese language they usually pronounce the letter "L" in the english alphabet as "R"...

example is light = raito

i really advice you to read the manga version of this series...

Sorry, I"m not really into Manga.

Thanks though, for clearing that up.

&&Although you maybe correct in saying it wasn't a big spoiler, it was a spoiler none-the-less and i wanted to mark it. Plus its a warning for the rest of the chat if someone may say something about an episode that they haven't gotten too yet. I was kinda mad when I read L died before I got to that part. I wish someone would have warned _me_ about that spoiler.

In regards to Eru/L . . .

When you pronounce Eru in Japanese, you don't use the English "ra" sound. It's not E-ru, or A-ree-ga-to, or Wa-ka-ree-mashita.

The best way I can explain it is to compare it to the Spanish or Latin use of a similar placed "r". The sound is closer to a "d" than an "r". When you see "pero", it's pronounced "pedo". You hit your tongue once on the top of your mouth to make the "r" sound, but don't trill.

Although, replacing an "r" with a "d" is still not quite right, it's closer to the correct sounding.

So, you say A-dee-ga-to or Wa-ka-dee-mashita. E-ru becomes E-du, almost. If you say it correctly, it will almost sound like a hybrid between the sounds of "L", "R", and "D".

Raito is pronounced differently depending on the speaker/dialect. Sometimes speakers can pronounce it as "Lighto", but usually it ends up being "Rdaito".

English is one of the few, if not the only, languages that pronounces the "r" wrong, me thinks.

Lol, yes the Raito thing is a bit confusing. Light's name really is Light, but in Japanese, there is no "L"s. So instead they use an R. And for some reason for names that end with t, they add 'o's on sometimes. So Light became Raito. I think more people watch the Japanese-subbed-in-English version of Death Note, then the people who watch the English dubbed. I, myself watched the English dub first since it comes on tv here . I have seen the original Death Note too, though, thats how I know about the Raito thing.

In my opinion, I liked the ending just how it was, I didn't want an epilogue. Though that's probably because I don't like them . Epilogues just bother me, they're a bit boring because all they do is explain what happened after, you don't really see it happen. Plus, it would ruin the mood of the ending if they had an epilogue. Though, there is a special episode that shows Ryuuk telling a shinigami about all that happened when he went to the Human World. I guess that would kinda be an epilogue, though I don't really consider it one. From what I've heard of that episode, you find out something about what happens to Light, I won't tell you though because I don't want to ruin it for you.

I know what you mean, my parents are from India, so I speak a second language. Urdu, I doubt many people on CR will know it. The 'r' pronunciation is the same in Urdu, its like the way you pronounce it in Japanese. Probably because they're both Asian languages. And thats also probably why when I try to speak some Japanese from the animes I watch, if I practice it a little, I sound like I'm actually Japanese.
